**Closed** Game: Picture This! **Winner Announced**

Every summer, we go to Oregon to spend time with extended family. We spend at least a week at our cabin. Our favorite evening activity is driving through the mountains looking for deer, elk and any other critters we might find. We often drive up to Tony Bay Meadow and we see hundreds of elk every night in the meadow. It never gets old.

In October/November of last year, I visited my brother & his wife who live in Florida. We did a tourist thing and went to the Everglades. It was amazing. I had no idea that it was actually considered a river, 60 miles wide and 100 miles in length. Living in a land-locked area in the Midwest, the sights were stunning, just miles and miles of flooded grasslands. And YES, we saw alligators in their natural environment.

We drove through Alligator Alley to Naples once and I remember that I had thought it was just a cutesy name for a Florida road. I didn't realize that it went through the Everglades and that we would actually see hundreds of alligators along the road. Love your photos -- the Everglades are spectacular!

My favourite photos of nature always involve Jasper which has a special place in my heart as my grandparents lived there. I would spend so much time there in the summer and even in the winter, enjoying all that it had to offer.

Here is our latest trip to Jasper, amazing view from the drive on the highway, and my boys having fun on an uprooted tree:

That part of Canada is just spectacular and your photo really captures that. Love the photo of your boys "interacting" with nature - a very boy thing to do. :giggle

Wow there are some spectacular scenic photos here on this thread.

Mine was taken much closer to home in our garden at the time and back when my shaky hand syndrome (familial tremor) hadn't got so bad and I could still take photos without shaking and them being blurry. We kept quite a natural garden and had a lot of different types of fungus growing naturally. I love this one photo because, well it features a heart shaped fungus and I also got the water droplets on the blades of grass.

The vast variety of fungi is amazing and this one is beautiful! Great capture with the water drops and the color contrast between the grass and the fungus.

One morning I had the pleasant surprise of coming across a turtle in the garden, I quickly took a photo. For me a turtle symbolizes constancy and stability with its slow and thoughtful gait, turtles remind us of the importance of moving forward step by step and not rushing. Unfortunately I never saw it again :(

What a cute turtle! I remember finding turtles and frogs all the time when I was a kid but they seem less common these days - so always a pleasant surprise to find one!

While we were on holiday this past July, this cute little bunny was sitting quietly by the side of the bike path. I had nearly cycled right past it, but stopped just in time to take a quick photo. Such a lovely surprise in the middle of our ride!

This is such a great photo - the lighting is beautiful and the soft greens and browns are gorgeous. Nice of the bunny to sit so patiently for you!

Every time we go for a walk, I try to take the time to look at nature, especially insects, because my youngest son loves them. And on our last walk, a butterfly landed near us and stayed on this chain for a long time. I was careful not to scare it with my shadow and tried to take a few photos.

What a gorgeous and striking creature! I think moths and butterflies walk the line between beautiful and a little creepy but they are so photogenic! Great capture -- they are flighty and can be hard to photograph.

Phew which photo do I share? ... I take sooooooooo many nature photos... photos in my garden to record the flowers blooming each season, or the gorgeous sunsets from my upstairs window, and then there are the cosmos flowers once a year, photos at my favourite home-away-from-home holiday place, Wyndford. Oh and don't forget the pics I took when flying with my son.... it's sooooooooooo hard to find just ONE favourite and depending on where I am and what I'm scrapping, at that moment that is my favourite. So for this challenge I will share the sunset photo I took last night.

Beautiful shot of the sihouetted trees and evening sky! I love how serene it is!

This is such an "only in Florida" photo: an alligator and a manatee(!) swimming past each other in Big Cypress National Preserve. My mom could not believe our luck.

That's such a great capture and yes -- very Florida! Love them both just minding their own business swimming past. :giggle It reminds me of a video I saw on TikTok from Australia of surf where you could see both a croc and a shark.

Photos from Carlsbad, CA. We visited an amazing garden, I forgot the name. The dinosaur was set up like that when we found it. I fell in love with all the flowers.
Love your beautiful flower shots! I love Carlsbad -- between the ocean and the flowers, it is such a beautiful place to visit and photograph.

Wow -- look at all those elk! We have a cabin in the mountains of AZ and we often see a dozen or so at a time (people feed them, which isn't a great idea) but I've never seen THAT many! Fabulous shot that really tells the story!

We love to go to national parks & explore our (close-ish) gorgeous world! Our most favorite was Moraine Lake in Alberta. In summer of 2018 we did a huge epic loop road trip through Lake Louise, then Calgary, then Waterton lakes in Alberta, then glacier national park in Montana then home.

One of my most favorite photos I've ever taken won an award with our hotel from lake louise too! We got up in the dark & watched the sunrise on the mountains- it was one of the most magical things I've ever experienced!

Some of my favorite nature photos are blue skies & peach blossoms. Since my first Peach tree that came with our first house in 2003, anytime I get peach trees I enjoy taking photos of the blooms against clear blue skies. These were taken March 2025 with our Virginian farmhouse that came with a peach tree.

Totally agree about Moraine Lake -- it is breathtaking. That photo is spectacular -- it's almost like they arranged those canoes for the perfect photo!

My mom lives in VA and I love the fruit tree blossoms. The pink against that saturated blue sky is exquisite!

This is one of my favorite photos ever. I took it during the pandemic, on April 23rd, 2020, while going for a walk alone, not far away from our house, because we weren't allowed to go far away! (crazy times, remember?). Anyway, I've scrapped this photo a million times, because I love the colors and how sharp it looks, even though at that time I had a cellphone with a mediocre camera. It may look like wild nature, but in fact it's just an unbuilt piece of land between two houses in a not so small town! I had to lean down in order to focus on the wildflower and not the houses around me!

Does a photo on a page count?

This is a photo of the lake near our house. My favorite is going pedal kayaking on the lake but we haven’t done any of that this year which makes me sad. Hopefully we’re able to go soon before it gets too cold.

There's not much I like to do in the summer in Japan. Too hot and too humid for me but last year I was happy to go and see some lotus flowers in a huge pond not for from us.
All this green with those spots of pink are very refreshing.

I might even try to go again if my bad knees allow it.

I chose this photo, recent favourite. Nolan loves to take nature photos with our "big" camera. He loves to take the camera from us and snap away. Trying different shots and close ups. He get some great photos. I grab my cell phone and take a picture of him taking a photo! Love that he loves to be outdoors and experience nature!
