Chat: Getting Ready for MOC

Thank you for the sad reminder about Dawn and Amber.
It is sad. I'm glad the reminder helps you prepare!
I'm pretty sure half of us have made a page with a retired designer or product in the past!

Ok - I used my visual history and put everything I can use in one folder - but I do have an additional question:

I have a lot of collabs that are still in the store, but one of the designers is not. Do I ONLY use the pieces of the kit that the remaining designer made, or is the full kit okay to use because it can still be bought?

good post! just a reminder to me though that I'll be in MN for about 5 days at the beginning of the month for a memorial service and time with family and then again later in the month in Florida for 4 days for vacation. LOL. I need to really be on my game this year if I want to finish!

That's a good question. I have wondered that before, too.

Also, thanks for the info on the visual list. I didn't know about that. It's going to help a lot! :)

My understanding is that you are fine to use any pieces in that collaboration. You would credit the kit as the collaboration, not the individual designer. And the collab is in the store.
@mrs2a50 Julie? Is that correct?

These are fabulous tips! When the forum opens officially this should be moved over there for reference - especially for our newest MOC challengers. Sounds like a it was a great chat!

Getting excited for the big day ... it's so close now!!! :circles

Great summary @bestcee

Reading for Success - ...oh yes. I wholeheartedly agree. I have been close to a resubmit a couple of times, but caught it because I read the instructions one last time before uploading.

Current Product - I use a spreadsheet for keeping track of my in-store supplies too. I updated it early December and will do a quick check sometime in the next couple of days. I do love the visual history, it is a great feature!!

Have fun - YESSSS!! In the past I have seen people get so so frustrated and it makes my heart sad. Sure there is a time pressure and some of the challenges are HARD, and of course people have commitments, but it is still our hobby, our love, our down time and not something to ruin by getting overwhelmed. There are SO many people around to talk to if you are stuck. It isn't like a test in school, we can chat about everything!!

Happy MOC everyone!!

My first MOC layout was with a lot of retired products. I realized my error right before I posted it. Ugh!! I only did that once. ONCE.

My procedure now is to create a Word document and before I start my layout, I look up what I want to use in the store and copy/paste the store link into the Word doc. Since we have to credit what we use anyway, this step is done by the time I'm finished with my layout, plus I know that everything I've used is in the store.
