...of anything?

My mom is a collector of plants. Loads of plants! I was able to snag some baby spider plants from her over the holiday season.

I am a collector of unique toys and figurines like the little Bindlewood figure in the back -

I also collect digital scrapbooking kits :giggle.

What about you? What do you collect?

No, I'm not a collector. I'm a hoarder. :banana

I'm having so much trouble getting rid of things, and I really, really, really need to declutter - our house is full to the brim. Whenever I look for something (which I have to do often, cuz everything gets lost in the mess), I find stuff I don't even remember I have. I just can't get rid of stuff that might become useful sometime. Like if the apocalypse happens and I need stuff to burn to keep warm or something like that.

:crazy3

I am a collector of books, I have a full bookcase which is near to breaking point I have put so many books on each shelf. I have a never ending to read list. I am also starting a nice collection of scented candles.

My husband would call it hoarding though.

I used to collect elephant ornaments years ago but sold these a long time ago. I don't have many ornament or figurines in our house, with two boarder collies the less than can get knocked over the better.

Ok love the little character...but what are you holding in your hand? A little art journal? Would love more details! It looks so cute!

I collected bears.. resin and stuffed but switched to only my old Boyd's bears and stopped collecting due to no more curio space and ultimately they (resin) are no longer worth anything and who do I hand them down to as my nephew will not want them. LOL

I have to go through more stuff this year to purge things as I still have things of my parents that I have a hard time letting go of as I for whatever reason feel I am throwing a part of them away. I have made some progress and got rid of a few things, but not enough, so 2023 is going to be the year to get rid of more. Hubby already started by getting rid of all the VCR tapes as we don't have a player anymore and we are not buying one .. plus the age they have deteriorated anyway :)

I have music CD's out the kazoo and never listen anymore .. plus the tons of books I need to give to the friends of the library for sale.

For awhile I collected Longaberger baskets. I was my own best customer! I still have quite a few but I still use them. Over the years I have given them as gifts, sold a lot at a garage sale and donated a bunch.

And, poor Mom. Didn't know what she started when she gave me a Precious Moment figurine for Christmas in 1983 and then the next one in 1986. By the end of 1987, the collecting began in earnest. Between my buying and Mom buying them for Christmas/birthday I ended up with a whole lot of them! I had given my mom a list of the figurines I wanted and she would buy off that list for birthday and Christmas and I didn't buy those myself. Dad tried to continue the tradition for Christmas 1997 but it had lost its appeal. It was something Mom and I enjoyed. So my last PM was received in 1997. I did try to sell some of them at a garage sale (sold 1). A scrapping friend had one of hers break and I had one so I sold her mine. But for now they are packed away in totes in the basement. I do have PM ornaments on display all year long along with 4 figurines on a shelf in my dining room. I do get the PM nativity out about every other year as well. And, yes, I have a scrapbook with photos of every single one of them! So even those I don't have, I still "have" them :)

I also used to buy hardback books from The Literary Guild and had several bookshelves full of books. And, books in boxes. Not to mention the books Mom and Dad had. Now I'm down to 2 bookshelves (but lots on my Kindle). I donated a lot of books to an organization that sells them to raise money for scholarships for young women. It is a national organization that has many local chapters.

Those were the main collections I have had over the years. These days it is scrapbooks!

Tell your husband he cannot call it hoarding until you have 22 book cases like we do. LOL

I collect egg plates for deviled eggs and Snowbabies. I also have some Boyd's bears figurines. When my mother-in-law moved to assisted living, she gave us some Hummel and dolls that she had collected.

Fun question!

I collected pencils when I was little but I don’t collect anything now.

I totally understand this!

And yay for the books! My hubby and I tend to buy rather than check out from the library. We both like having our own library collection.

I feel your pain, so to speak, about who to hand stuff down to. No kids of my own. I do have a niece and nephew, though! Lol...and the time to stop collecting is when there is no more space on the shelves :backing

I "googled" the bears. They are adorable!

I know these! My mom was a collector too. From time to time I will still get her a cute set. :heartlub

Oh wow! That is interesting. Any special kind of pencils...like colored pencils?
No just regular pencils. They would often sell them at my elementary school so I started collecting different patterns and sizes. They were an affordable souvenir too so I would get one from wherever we traveled.

I also collected stickers when I was little and now I collect digi stickers haha

Thanks Lisa!!

I collect Juan Anri Ferrandiz angel ornaments for Christmas-- it all started when I was little and my dad got me one each year for the first few years of my life. Then, the store where he bought them stopped selling them, so my collection stalled. A few years ago my husband found one for me on Ebay, then this year I found a lot of them on Etsy so I have gotten 5 new ones this year. Here is how they look- each one is carrying a different thing (although I do have a couple of duplicates) and I love the little leaf wings so much!

They are made in Italy, hand carved from wood and painted.

MY.LIFE.TOO! :crazy3 Between me, my hubby and the twins none of us are good at getting rid of things. When I was younger I used to collect Precious Moments figurines.
