Welcome to the 2023 edition of Love Our Designers (LOD)
This event isn't a traditional challenge in that there aren't any real rules.
It’s a fun event to scrap with products from a fave designer or try a new (to you) designer. It’s all about having fun and celebrating the uniqueness of all of our Lilypad Designers!

Today our featured designer is Kristin Aagard Designs! Her store is available at https://the-lilypad.com/store/Kristin-Aagard/

And to celebrate Kristin, her shop is on sale for today only as well!

Guest Polly Jennifer (@littlekiwi) asked Kristin a few questions about her design process and her favourite kits.

Firstly what is your design process for your products?

My design process usually stars with some inspiration from my own photos or life events. I usually like to jot down a list of the elements and patterns that I really want to include right from the start and then I add in little bits and pieces as I create. Often when I’ve been given a color palette or come across one I really love, I build inspiration from those colors. The color inspired kits are often my favorite!

What are your favourite kits that you have designed?

One of my recent favorite kits is called Ellie. It is inspired by my two year old niece, who is in the cutest stage of life right now! When I saw the October 2022 BYOC swatch, I instantly knew that I wanted to create the Ellie kit because of the green color that perfectly matched her favorite shoes! I added lots of little things that reminded me of her to the kit as well.

You can see the real life Ellie on this page I scrapped using the kit.

Since it’s getting close to Easter, I thought I’d share one of my favorite Easter kits, Bunny Trail. I love to create themed holiday kits, mostly because I like drawing cute, happy little characters. My daughter, Sophie, sat with me while I was creating this kit and told me how she wanted me to draw each character. She also created the crepe butterfly that I used in this kit!

My kids are all teenagers now, but this page I scrapped using Bunny Trail features all three of them with their Easter baskets when they were little.

I love creating kits about the great outdoors. One of my favorite kits to work on was my Desert kit. I loved drawing the cacti and the desert background elements. My favorite element is the camel.

I think that @ArmyGrl created a gorgeous page using the kit and featuring that camel!

During this interview Kristin also mentioned that she would LOVE to hear some suggestions for kit themes/ideas that you’d all like to see in the future from me!

Now before I share some of my fave kits & layouts I've created with Kristin's products, Kristin has graciously allowed me to share a sneak peak of her products for March 2023 BYOC releasing on March 3rd.

Also Kristin has graciously offered two $10 coupons to two lucky people who participate in this thread between now and Thursday February 23rd!

Now on to my favourites......first of all I absolutely love Ellie so I'll share my layout with it as well.

I must admit my fave thing about Kristin's kits are how her kits enable me to scrap about real everyday things. I was drawn to her Bread kit for exactly that reason!

I also think Kristin does some of the best sports themed kits around and so naturally while I am not a sports person myself, I am a huge sports fan particularly of Basketball

Finally I couldn't help but shout out the versatility of Kristin's kits....in a single layout I used so many of her products from her store and her blog

All of those kits plus a few blog freebies created this layout

Now it's your turn to play with her creations. Create a page with (mostly) Kristin Aagard. Explore her store and see what catches your eye....or if you already own some of her goodies, pull them out and have a play! Remember if you play and share your layout here between now and Thursday February 23rd you are in to win a $10 coupon from Kristin!

Please make sure you meet the TLP gallery guidelines of at least 50% TLP product.
Post your completed page in Kristin Aagard's designer gallery
and then come back here and share in this thread!

(note: due to time zone differences and the fact I am not feeling 100% today, the thread is up slightly early but the sale is not live yet)

Actually, the sale has just become live so have fun shopping! I will be around later (tomorrow morning/early afternoon for me) and will leave love on everyone then

Kristin was the designer I followed over here to the Lilypad having got some of her kits at a previous store. Some of her themed kits get used over and over again as they are so perfect for us. I don't expect to have much scrapping time today, but maybe I'll get another page done using her kits soon.

I think Kristin's By Air is one of my most used kits when it comes to documenting my son's flying. I love all the little elements and the variety of papers. Her kits are filled with lovely surprises.

Kristin's illustrations are always cute - i have a soft spot for her animals especially and i always love her xmas and easter kits! i'm always amazed when designs look fresh and fun when it's almost routine to me and seasonal, i don't know how she does it but i'm glad she does!

I love Kristin's kits. Have over 30GB (167 kit folders) in my stash. Just during MOC I use Sporty: Football for 4 different layouts. Football is loved in my family so I have lots of football photos. Here is my favorite one of those:

As for suggestions, I would love to have more kits in the "Instrumental" line. These days in the photos I scrap for my cousin, I have lots of photos of piano playing and guitar playing. Kits could be made for woodwind instruments, brass instruments, percussion instruments, keyboard instruments and the guitar family. And on an out of the box thinking... voice as a subject. Both of my cousin's grandkids are singers and the granddaughter does voice over work.

I'll try to get another layout done, been busy with another project that I put off during MOC so I haven't been scrapping.

What I like about Kristin's kits is that they always have such a happy feel to them. I had so much fun scrapping this layout this morning thinking about spring arriving in a month or two, hopefully!

I posted this one yesterday with Kristin’s All The Feels goodies. Love the primary colors and leaf branches because I’m single leaf challenged haha

I'm excited to give Kristin a try. Since I've only been back scrapping a couple of months, there are still a lot of designers out there I haven't tried. I remember this name from back in the day, though. I picked up three themed kits so I can scrap some Bunco photos (game night theme); some cruise photos and beach trips (By Sea) and then I have some photos to scrap from when I moved from my house post-divorce to my rental which I loved and lived in for 7 years (new home kit). Can't wait to scrap this evening! I brought my laptop to work but forgot my mouse! GRRRR. I am pretty good with keystrokes, but still like to move things with my mouse. Stay tuned!

LATER THAT DAY....she posted her page!

I know I'm the host but I'd love a burger kit kind of in the same style as your Pizza and Pasta kits and also a healthy food kit would be great in a similar style

Just woke up this morning and have popped into the gallery to leave love.....such stunning layouts from you all so far.

I just LOVE Kristin's stuff, and my gallery includes a lot of layouts created using her pretty designs, actually I own around 180 bundles and kits in my stash, and my wishlist includes a little bit more than 20. For my layout I used Cluck Cluck.
