#1 Song on your 16th Birthday | Pad Patter 1.5.22

I don't know this song but yellow ribbons make me think of remembrance and friendship.

The song was based on a folk legend about a man who are incarcerated for 4 years. His wife wrote him for awhile but then stopped. He kept writing her and in one of his letters told her that she should tie a yellow ribbon around the old oak tree that was on the edge of town if she wanted him to come home. If there was no ribbon, he would continue on. He thought she no longer wanted to have anything to do with him because she didn't write him for a couple of years. When the bus he was on came into town, the oak tree had hundreds of yellow ribbons on it.

Yellow ribbons then became a symbol of welcome home for Vietnam veterans and later the Iran hostages.

There are some good songs in here that you say you don't know. May I suggest you look them up on YouTube? I think you might have heard them at one time whether you realized it or not :)

Thanks for the explanation. I like learning new things. Yesterday got busy but today I have more time to look them up. You're probably right and I know them by sound just not by title.

Sorry not sorry haha I'm listening to this one now so we can have the same ear worm. ;)

I Wish I Was a Punk Rocker (With Flowers in My Hair) by Sandi Thom which kind of goes with my relaxed "free" theme for this year I guess.

I think you two got the worst ones! I love your ETA Berniek.
Wait, omg, I read birthday. But if this is about my 16th birthday, that’s a whole other story! These are perfectly fine!

US number 1:
Ain't It Funny by Jennifer Lopez featuring Ja Rule

Dutch number 1:
Whenever wherever by Shakira

How fun that yours kind of works! Though I’m sure “punk rocker” isn’t the type of “free” you’re going for haha
