@Angela Toucan it’s not common practice. Out of the two longer distance interviews I’ve been reimbursed once. The thing is the company offered to do a skype interview but I felt I’d perform better in a face to face (plus less risk of tech issues) so said I’d come down.

I’m lucky that my grandmother offers to lend me the money and I just spend as little as needed for me to be comfortable in terms for accomodation and flights. It also gives me a chance to explore potential areas to live in etc if I was to move.
