January 29 | Song Lyrics Challenge I love being able to host the Song Lyrics Challenge for MOC 12. There are so many songs that are connected to specific memories and moments in my life. There are other songs that connect me to a specific place in time. I suspect that is true for many of y’all as well. For the song lyrics challenge, I want you to scrap a song that is connected to a specific memory or a memorable place and time. For example, the song you played at your wedding. Or the song you listened to every time you were cruising main street with your best friends. Or maybe a song that was part of a favorite band or choir performance. Perhaps, you and your kids are all Swifties and there is a song that y’all love to sing together. Did your dad name you after a specific song? Now is the time to share the story of that song. For this challenge, I want you to scrap a page about that song. Your page must include: The song title At least one verse or chorus from the song At least three sentences of journaling explaining the song’s connections to your memories. You are not required to include a photo. If you have one to include that is awesome but it is not required for this challenge. To help get your creative juices flowing, here are a few examples from myself, Carol and Stefanie. My page From Carol From Stefanie Your page must be a new page in order to count for the Month of Challenges. Your page must be posted in three places: 1. Uploaded to the TLP Gallery (not an outside hosting site). 2. Posted in your page thread you created in the MOC Layouts Folder. You should have one post per completed challenge page. If you complete all 31 challenges, your thread should contain 31 posts. Please do not comment in the participants’ page threads so we can keep them clean. 3. Posted in this thread. People can comment here if they wish. Your page must contain Lilypad product (pages with photos and font only do not count). Product from other stores will not be allowed for MOC; your pages must contain 100% Lilypad product (current or retired product from designers or guest designers presently selling at The Lilypad). Your journaling should be in complete sentences to qualify as complete. Word art will not qualify as journaling. You cannot use the same word over and over. You cannot use the same sentence over and over again. Journaling challenges are meant for telling stories; if your journaling is sensitive or personal, please message me or Julie (mrs2a50) directly to discuss.
What a fun challenge Cindy!!! Thank you for hosting! Song: Downtown Song Lyrics sung by Petula Clark Journaling: “Mary came to visit us in 2000 (?) not long after we moved to VA. CJ & I took her to Williamsburg in CJ’s Camaro. We had a wonderful time with lunch in one of the historic taverns. On the way home on I-64, we were listening to the 60’s station on the radio, and “Downtown” comes on. We all 3 spontaneously started singing /screaming “Downtown” every time that portion of the song happened. We laughed and laughed after, and to this day, Mary, CJ and I cannot hear the song without that memory coming to mind!"
Yet another dark memory - MOC really brings out the darker sides of me this year. It's translated in the gallery, but I paste it here as well, since it's sort of a journaling challenge. Translation of the lyrics: There is a sorrow living in your eyes that I cannot reach There is a sorrow living in your heart that is hard to understand How did it get there How did it get there It's as black as black granite If you just want to, let me know I can be your friend as the night falls If you only will open your door and dare to let someone in Translation of the journaling: I had an incredibly dark period, not even sure when, but between 2014-2018. Anxiety, worry, depression and grief. For a while, I couldn't even get out of the house alone. During this time, Per Gessle carried me with his album Mazarin. The lyrics are dark and bubbly happy at the same time, and when I was hiding myself at home, I joined in with his songs, and found some kind of joy of life in the darkness.
Thank you Cindy for this challenge! Lyric translation The sea That dances along the clear gulfs Has reflections of silver The sea Changing reflections In the rain Charles Trenet
Thank you for this challenge. the translation of the lyrics of the song and that of my text can be found in my gallery.
Thanks for the challenge, I've been thinking about a page for this one anyways as it's on repeat in the house right now.
I've been wanting to scrapbook about my crush on Ryan O'Neal. Thanks for giving me the perfect avenue to do that.
I have been waiting to do this page! Something recently triggered this memory and I wanted to get it recorded!
