    Hi there!
I blogged about digiscrap Time Savers a few weeks back https://the-lilypad.com/time-savers-for-when-you-feel-the-need-for-speed/ and so today I'm using some of those ideas in practice and I'm thinking of these steps as Working Smart steps and getting more impact and layers in, using less time (because it's DSD and there's so much to do!).

    So let's go:
    1. Grab a paper that already has some mixed media on it AND Grab 1-2 photos.
    - it can be a minimal paint splatter paper or a page fully covered in textured paint but this is the main background and it's going to be a timesaver.

    2. Position the photo/s anywhere you want but don't cover all the mixed media! AND add at least 1 thing behind your photo/s, to make it stand out from the main background.
-you could add a pattern paper mat or journal card to seperate your photo a bit from the background; or a big blob of messy thread or a flower poking out from behind it, anything that adds layers and dimension.

    3. Pick one edge of the layout and add a paper border strip.
-you could drag out a basic 'edge to edge' rectangle shape in your scrapping program and use a torn paper edge template with patterned paper, or a 'one click' glitter paper style; maybe you want to make it scalloped or zigzagged like using those old fancy scrapping scissors from the 90's - there are so many quick ways to fancy up a border strip and add some instant interest to a page.

    4. Add a title that touches the border strip in some way.
    - you can use a font or alpha. Pre-shadowed alphas can be a time-saver! A chunky font with a layer style can be too! Don't forget to credit Styles if they're from the store - you should see my wishlist of Layer Styles!

    5. Make the date a considered part of the page and add any journalling you want by writing on a tab, label, journal card or tag. (Journalling is optional; date must be at least the year of the photo/s - the journalling can be on your main backgrd but please put the date on some kind of tag/ label etc - an element of some kind)
    - Don't waste time searching for the perfect font. Use your normal favourite handwriting or typewriter font. The tab, label, journal card or tag will mean your text won't get lost in the background if you have a ton of crazy fun mixed media on there.
-Using a colour other than default black makes your text more interesting and can add interest to your page and story.

    6. Add at least 3 elements to your page. Finish up with shadows and save and upload to the gallery.
    - Want your photos or titlework to be the stars on the page? Choose smaller elements, or place big eye-catching elemnts right near your photos or the title.
-Want to create a visual triangle that guides the eye around the page to take everything in? Use the same element, either for example: 3 of the same button (duplicated and rotated a little each time) or 3 different buttons, and position them so that the photo or title is at the centre of the triangle that joining the dots between the 3 elements create.

    -----------
Please post your completed layout in The Lilypad gallery. GALLERY RULES: Layouts must contain at least 50% TLP products (Templates count as 15%). Uploads must be less than 250k. List all credits; no off-site linking allowed.

Photos show one thing I was doing instead of DSD activities today.
