Concerts|Pad Patter 5.1.17

I LOVE concerts but because of where I live it makes it harder to see anything good. That being said I've been to quite a few. Some of my favs were P!nk and Boyz II Men (Which I have seen 3 times! lol!) and Rob Thomas.

I've been to bunches of concerts, but in recent years I just can't believe how expensive tickets are getting. My hubby and I have been to 10+ Jimmy Buffett concerts, but the most fun part about that is the tailgating ahead of time. :giggle I've also seen Sarah Mclachlan, Paula Cole, Tori Amos, Bush, No Doubt, Bare N@ked Ladies, Bret Michaels, Diamond Rio, Sara Evans, Josh Turner, Straight No Chaser and Zac Brown Band (THE best performers). I can't think of any of the other ones, but seems like there's more.

If I could go see anyone, I'd go back to my college days and purse up the money to see Pink Floyd. I had a chance to see them, but just didn't want to spend $50 on a ticket and now you can't see them anymore. Courtney @bestcee , I'm totally jealous that you got to see They Might Be Giants. I LOVED them in college... I had all of their weird CDs. :giggle

My "big" concerts were seeing John Denver twice when I was in high school. The second concert was at the Universal Amphitheater in Hollywood (when it was still outdoors, under the stars). My friends BF stood in line for 3 days to get the tickets, and we were the 3rd row back, front and center! Dick Clark and his family was sitting in front of us, and Karen Carpenter was behind us. It was truly an amazing experience!
THAT is so TOTALLY AWESOME!!!!! I love John Denver music. My husband and I were able to attend two of his concerts. One at the Arizona State University Activity Center which was huge and awesome. And the other was over in Sun City and was a lot smaller but still very good. I have also been to events that the Beach Boys were at. Not to their concerts though. One was at a store where they brought them in to get the attention of people. There was a small stage in the parking lot. The other time was at Lagoon which is near Bountiful, Utah. I guess they were there for something but we walked right past a couple of the guys in the crowd and didn't realize it until we had walked by. They were just out and about in the crowd there at the park.

Oh, and I also got to go to a piano concert. I think the guy's name was John Browning????? It was very small but fun to be at.

If I could go to any concert now it would be to see the Piano Guys. Love, love them.

Nope....I prefer Dean and he's just my age!!!! ;)

Yeah, I guess you're right. I could be his grandmother. Tell ya what---you take Dean; I'll take Sam Elliott!!!

Oh, wait---This is about concerts. I have also seen Chubby Checkers and Pat Boone. Ok, ok, so I am older than you all!!!! And my daughter took me to see the Oak Ridge Boys. And another all time favorite, besides Johnny Cash, was the Charlie Daniels Band. He is the sweetest person. I worked that concert and got to have a nice chat with him.

Live music is in my top five of Fave Things To Do Ever so I've been to many many concerts. My dad ran the sound for a local university's convocation center when I was growing up so I saw a lot of concerts there for free.

Off the top of my head -- Amy Grant, New Kids On The Block (when I was 9, when I was 29, and when I was 32!), Newsboys (2x), Alan Jackson, Trace Adkins, Steven Curtis Chapman, Rascal Flatts (3x including when they were opening for Jo Dee Messina back in 1999), Beach Boys, Chicago, Barenaked Ladies, Blues Traveler, Taylor Swift (when she was opening for Rascal Flatts), Dave Barnes (3x), Andrew Peterson, Bebo Norman, Nichole Nordeman, Kelsea Ballerini, Relient K, Jo Dee Messina, Sugarland (got to meet them backstage because an old scrap friend is friends with Kristian's wife!), Michael W. Smith, Five Times August (got to meet him & get a picture), Third Day (2x), Plus One (2x), Andrew Ripp, Lady Antebellum (before they were popular -- saw them at the Nashville Marathon closing ceremonies) Marc Broussard (2x), Boyz II Men (2x), 98 Degrees... I'm sure there are more!

I have a concert bucket list, too, which includes Lionel Richie, Lifehouse, Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, Maroon 5, Miranda Lambert, and the Backstreet Boys.

Lifehouse will be in Indy (with Switchfoot which is another band I like & haven't seen in concert) at the end of August so I'm trying to find someone to go with me. Everclear, Vertical Horizon, & Fastball will be here locally at the end of next month so I might try to snag tickets for that, too, if I can get someone to watch my kids.

They got to 4-5 a year... last year was Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen, The Cure, The Verve Pipe and I can't remember who else (they just got their tickets for U2 in June).

Now I am envious. The Cure were playing last year in Munich and I so wanted to go but had nobody to come along.

My last two two or three concerts were Depeche Mode and the biggest one I have ever been to was an open air Michael Jackson concert, but that was more than 25 years ago. OMG, I cannot believe it, time flies.

I love this thread and finding out who shares my musical tastes! I've always loved concerts but I'm also super cheap so I rarely go to expensive ones.

My first ever concert was Backstreet Boys and I bet it was the same one you went to @bestcee haha they will always be a favorite.

I've also seen Martina McBride, Black Eyed Peas, Gwen Stefani, Josh Gracin, Kelly Clarkson, Counting Crows, Goo Goo Dolls, and OneRepublic live (I may be missing a few). Stage front at Goo Goo Dolls was the best ever because I love them. Counting Crows were amazing live. After being at the stage for a concert I don't enjoy other seats any more haha

I would love to go to Tim McGraw, Maroon 5, and Taylor Swift (adding Lifehouse and JT thanks to @LeeAndra haha) some day. Now I'm feeling the need to scrap about concerts!

Oh and I've also been to a David Lanz piano concert. That was cool.

I so want to see Zac Brown Band this summer!

They played at Wrigley Field a couple years ago and my son got to spend the day backstage with soundcheck and setup. Then they got to go to the concert... he had an amazing time!!

Now I am envious. The Cure were playing last year in Munich and I so wanted to go but had nobody to come along.

My son is game to see any concert, but he was especially interested in The Cure because we had recently watched the movie Sing Street. He's a fan now. However, both he and my husband got food poisoning from the food they had there and had to leave before the concert was over.

I realize that I never listed who I've seen... a strange, eclectic mix (and one that will show my age)... I went to see Dolly Parton when I was really little (I think getting me a ticket was cheaper than a babysitter). Kenny Loggins, Air Supply, Night Ranger (2x), Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, Alabama, Steve Miller Band (2x), Eagles, Skid Row, Poi Dog Pondering, Squeeze, The Smithereens and Bon Jovi. I'm not one to drive the plan to go to a concert, so I mainly tagged along with other people and their concert choice. I used to really, really love Little Feat and saw them several times in smaller venues. My husband loves The Verve Pipe, I can't even count the number of times I've seen them. They even played a concert at our house which was amazing! We also went to a house concert by the lead singer of the Smithereens, that was cool too.

Yes ! as many as I can , living in Malta. But over the years have been to quite a few. The absolute best was Bryan Adams , because the crowd was in such a good mood, and he just went on and on.... but Roan Keating , Winter moods and lots of great tribute rock bands was great fun. And every year we have the Isle of MTV here in Malta , summer concerts of lesser known artists , and best of the year is Rockestra , A fab Maltese production that has everyone (thousands ) singing . Elton John was the worst ever, he was barley on stage for half an hour total. I love musical theatre too.

I would have to say I'm not a big concert fan but I have been to several over the years - especially in college and my 20s. Since then, I've gone to maybe 3 or 4 in the past 12 years. The last concert I went to was Iron Maiden in 2012. Alice Cooper opened. I'm NOT a heavy metal fan but my husband is and since he goes with a friend to see Iron Maiden every single time they come around, I figured I should go at least once to see what it's like. I was actually surprised at how good the concert was, but once is more than enough for me.

There aren't really any concerts I'm dying to see these days (i.e any worth the ticket prices). If my husband or a friend suggests a show, I might consider going. We've been to a few in smaller theaters which have been great but even those ticket prices are getting crazy!

We did this on FB and I was surprised at how many I did go to...and forgot about Little Feat so thanks for the reminder @tkradtke. I went to a lot when I was in my 'between marriages' 15 years. I had a friend who really knew music and she and I went a lot.

The one we 'went to' but didn't really was the Stones at RFK in Dc. She was then working in the folk music division of the US Library of Congress and got to be friends with a lot of big names in the music business. We got down to the stadium, sans tickets, and met a couple of the contacts. We did get into the tunnel leading to the field with one of the men but that didn't work. So we went outside on the sidewalk where we could hear perfectly and felt the ground shake with the bass. However, while seeing glimpses of them between parts of the open areas, we were shooed off by guards. As two federal employees, we knew they had no right to keep us off public sidewalks but...arrest records would not have been good.

Eric Clapton was the highlight of my music years! Current DH is an opera fan - no mosh pits it seems!

Not a huge concert girl these days - last one we went to was an Australian band (The Waifs - so good!). Saw The Decemberists last year at The Sydney Opera House - great experience! My first concert was INXS in 1985 in a small movie theatre - a couple of months before they hit the big time - such a cool concert! Got tickets to Midnight Oil for later in the year (another Aussie band from my youth that have just reformed).

And of course, I have seen way too many Wiggles concerts...:lol (although they can be a lot of fun as well..)

I have been to a handful, I am not a HUGE fan. They are too loud. LOL!!! I am taking Bianca to her first concert this fall, we are going to see Lady Gaga.

I get to hear my daughters singing almost every day. Those are my favorite concerts. :)

I might have been to one or two small concerts in college that I don't remember. (I have such a bad memory. That's probably why I'm compelled to record my life in scrapbooks.)

But my daughters and I went to see Pentatonix in concert last November and it was awesome!

If someone offered me money to go to any concert in the world, I'd ask if the money could be used to go to a Supernatural convention instead. :D

I am waiting for tickets to go on sale to go see Pentatonix at a pretty small OUTSIDE venue here in Chicago.

And of course, I have seen way too many Wiggles concerts...:lol (although they can be a lot of fun as well..)
LOL i opened this thread and thought 'i'm guessing The Wiggles don't count, even if it was with Greg the original yellow one' - i think a lot of parents here would have them on their concert list!

I've only seen a few but P!nk, U2 and George Michael were memorable for good reasons and Bastille for not so (we found out that we prefer seats than 'standing section' with a bunch of sweaty teenagers) and even though i love her I haven't seen Kylie (Minogue) live - maybe one day, we just missed out on Elton John tix too

Hmmm the year before last was a big concert year for me, I saw ..... Fleetwood Mac, Boy and Bear, Mumford and Sons, and Florence + the Machine! They were all AMAZING!! I think my favourite was Florence though ... that woman is so TALENTED!!
