What's in a name? | Pad Patter 11.14

And funny is many will call my hubby Mr. Ofalamo! bhahah
one of my best friends in real life as in we lived next door to each other and go to the same church, used to be more active is AlaMama she designed as Pressed Petals long ago...I thought hers was so clever. lol
LOL and i remember Alamama and Pressed Petals too - she was really good - u lose track of people in the digi world as easily as in the real world i think)

Back in the 1990's, I was one of the few people in our corporation who was granted an e-mail account. But at the time, the max # of characters I could use for my account was 6, so I went with the 1st initial of my 1st name, and the 1st 5 characters of my last name. For every e-mail account I've had since, I've kept it as "mcurtt". And apparently since I am so used to it, it is also my gallery name. Such an original...not. :-)

Ha!! I always assumed your husband had turned 50, so you were Mrs. to a 50. :rofl

I was kinda thinking along the lines like @RebeccaH that your husband was 50... lol Two Adam Five Oh is cool too and I'll have to try to remember the adam part now when I see your username in the forum.

lol i like this thread -in my head you have been julie for a while but you were also the 'mrs to a fifty year old' :tacklehug

Yeah, I get that a lot. My very first intro to online forums was a group for wives of law enforcement officers, and they all totally got what my user name was. Then I started using it at scrap sites, and no one understood it!

@keepscrappin - living the law enforcement life, I've been surrounded with the military alphabet for so long (where letters aren't numbers, they're words, so a = adam, b = boy, etc., I have a hard time saying the "normal" alphabet. I always say the words when I'm spelling something out. It gets me a lot of weird looks IRL!

Back when I came up with my username, we were all warned not to use our real names on the internet, so I spent some time trying to come up with a name that "fit" me and was unique enough to not be common.
this was me too - internet safety-except we were told to be 'common' to draw less attention, if that makes sense- so instead of typing my real name in all those user fields and stuff back then, (dating myself a bit too here!) my fake email address and online persona had a common (in our area) last name of Bell (i had a friend in kindy/yr1 with that last name), and i can't even remember exactly, but there were sites that you could put your name into and it would suggest a username or login for you - like those 'what's you elf name'? kind of ones and you just hit enter until it generated one you were ok with. I've been Bellbird since.

(and that was before i had met my DH and we had birds as pets! i did have a budgie (bird) back as a kid so maybe thats why i went with it instead of something else but i'm kind of partial to alliteration so i was probably happy with how it sounded more than anything)

This was fun reading! :) IntenseMagic has been my username for everything online for a long long time. I used to go by hlblygal (hillbilly gal) but got tired of that one. I am so incredibly not creative when it comes to names and things, I asked a couple of friends to help me out. One came up with Intense, because I tend to be pretty passionate about things I care about. And one came up with Magic, because he said I cast a spell on people LOL. So I just put the two together.

@bellbird - love bird. I picture a pretty christmas bell and bird in my mind every time I see it.

My keepscrappin username was kind of a don't use your real name thing too. Now I think of Dory in Finding Nemo singing just keep swimming every time I type keepscrappin and have to laugh because I sing just keep scrappin in my head to the tune Dory does when I get scrapper's block.... lol

i think of you as that Dory song as well!

My name is my name. I've never had a nickname.
Edited: But if you were wondering, it's Julie St. Cyr. Last name is pronounced Saint Sear. Or if you want to get fancy and French about it Sayn Seer - and roll that "R"!

@AnneofAlamo you will always be the Southwest Anne of Green Gables to me. And apparently you don't have a TV, so you can't watch Anne of Green Gables on PBS over American Thanksgiving. So, consider this your standing invitation to come to Ottawa and watch the Anne of Green Gables and Anne of Avonlea miniseries at my house. (the 1985-87 version). I will even make you raspberry cordial and linament cake (don't worry, it's just vanilla) from the Anne of Green Gables cookbook I got for Christmas in 1989.

I have the most uncreative username imaginable -- LeeAndra. It's unique, though, in that I have yet to run across another one in DigiLand. :)

I can tell you that my name means Lion Woman. I love that! RAWR!!

love that... lion woman. i am lion woman, hear me roar! RAWR.... lol so fun!

This is my favorite thread in a long time. I have LOVED reading all of these!

My husband was in law enforcement, and his radio call number was 2A50 (when spoken, Two Adam Five Oh) so, I'm Mrs Two Adam Five Oh.

How did I never know this? How did I never ask? I feel like we have totes bonded even more now.

So you want me to reveal my deep dark secret? Carilyne is not my real name on my birth certificate but I will be legally changing it.
Midway in my recovery from childhood trauma I realized how separated parts of me had become and some even locked away. I was playing with my real name Carrie Lynn which my entire maternal side of the family called me. I took out the double letters and tucked the e at the end. To me it symbolizes my reaching wholeness again and being who I was created to be (I was named after my aunt Caroline and always felt gipped that mom split it). And I would prefer it be pronounced as Caroline only with "short i" sound. But I just like being called it no matter how you pronounce it.

Love this! "reaching wholeness again". You are awesome and so is your name!

My real name is Ulrike and my parents always used to call me Rikki (or Ricki, not sure, I never saw it spelled out) when I was little. So I went with that everywhere online.
And guess what: I just googled the name (to see how many are out there) and entries on the Urban Dictionary came up that make me the super girl, :-). If only....

200w_d.webp

(couldn't resist)

mine is the name of my doggie, Sokee, I really should create a siggie so people that don't know me know that my real name is Barbara

Barbara. Barbara. hmmm... Barbara. LOL. The things you learn!

I live in a military town so A=Alpha, B=Bravo, C=Charlie, etc... My DH does this all the time when rattling off letters to people. Cracks me up.

I'm glad to know this, but honestly, I have a really hard time not thinking of you as "BlueBell", LOL. Apparently, I constantly have ice cream on the brain!

As for my name... Has anyone noticed that there are a couple of Jen/Jenn's around? :giggle

Well, my 1st name is Jen (or Jennifer) and my last name is Evangelista. So my 1st email address was jenevang as a combination of my names (really, jenniferevangelista is so stinkin' long). It sort of became my username everywhere after that. It seemed simple to me but it's amazing how many folks don't get it. I guess if you don't know my last name it may seem weird. But it is what it is at this point!

i still think of u as JennyVang (cos i read it initially as Jen-E-Vang) and you know how it's hard to un-learn something? yep, that, so feel free to think of me as BlueBell - but apparently thats a US specific icecream reference LOL hopefully they're a high-quality brand!

<<<<< least creative username evah! But everyone knows my name! :giggle

I actually am kscrappy everywhere else in digiland, but WAY back when I signed up here I tried "Karen" to see if it was taken and it wasn't, so I went with it. :)

Can I come too!!!? Me and my girls love Anne of Green Gables I even gave them the DVD collection for Christmas one year.
