I would like to know

Or perhaps just to hard on myself...

I like to do random crafts at school with my students but I never do at home. I like colouring though. I don't have the space to have a lot of craft supplies. I do make wreaths!

I am re-learning to knit. My mom taught me years ago, but at that time I wasn't very interested. I've also just recently learned to arm knit and made some awesome scarves. I really want to try a blanket :)

I'm horrible at all those things... always a bit envious of the ones that can! It's all such beautiful work!

I sew, knit, crochet, quilt, embroider, needlepoint, bake, and many other handcrafty things. I used to work as a photographer before having a family, but that's not something I'd ever want to go back to because you have no life when you're on call 24/7. These days I mostly knit and make my DD's figure skating costumes. But I somehow am not able to clean a house... bwahhahha!

Oh, and I CANNOT balance a checkbook to save my life. (Yes, I still write checks!)

Do I dare say: nothing....

As I mentionned somewhere before, I am NOT handy at all!!!!

Nothing, I am hopeless.

NOT TRUE
absolutely not true.
we here are talking about doing something as a hobby, for enjoyment, none is asking you to go to exhibition levels, even though I believe any of us can (get to exhibition levels.
I mean I always say how I love a lot more Sarita's drawings from 2nd grade than Jackson Pollock's paintings which sell for US$400000
so, it all depends on the eye of the beholder.

but anyone can learn to draw, paint, sew, anything.... I have learn that most things I ended up doing were because of necessity (like Farah says, sometimes you need to save) that's how I learned sewing....I just don't do it because I don't enjoy it.

Drawing is same thing anyone can learn, is a question of practice.

Now here is one thing:

Or perhaps just to hard on myself...

if you REALLY want to do art journaling on paper/mixed media/etc
you can. you just need to get going, try things out, you will find your thing.....

MY very particular problem is that there is no UNDO button..... :giggle
I get frustrated when I cut things wrong and cant go back or glued something I can no longer move..... which is why I kind of don't go much for proper tidy projects, but like more the messy stuff, which I can always modify like collage or stuff for my hand written journal....
and I find that in the store here there is so much to do art journal that isn't necessarily sold as art journaling.... I have made stuff with many designers kits that aren't exactly art journal, so I am always on the look on Wednesdays for what I can buy for later.....

then I end up like Kim or Kristina LOL I have a whole cupboard with stuff I bought in physical stores plus 4 or more boxes or buttons, ribbons, stuff I have been collecting since Sarita was born...only now I am making room for using...after on an impulse I made some hybrid with a planner thing (with The Basic Witch from Quirky Heart)
Then the flame turned on and now Sarita is helping me make room for me to be able to do more, she even bought me a paper cutter (straight not a cameo)

so thing is...you wanna do it? have a go at it, you may enjoy it!!!!!!!!

and you are so very talented in digital I am sure you will enjoy and produce amazing stuff!!!! :heartslub

I crochet, knit (love it) and sew ( the sewing is basic) used to do cross stitch and embroidery ( black work is my favourite ) dabbled with paint but gave up(hopeless at it ) draw a bit, used to do paper cuts by hand,(nice ones too) but now I get really frustrated, because I have to wear verifocals and I can't see the cut lines clearly so over shoot the end or are 1/2 a mm out in thickness and that is enough to ruin a cut.
Still love and do card making, and any papercraft really. And cooking if that counts.....

Oh geez! I'm a total hobby collector. I've dabbled in tons of crafts/arts along my lifetime. I have done painting, cross stitch, crochet, knitting, sewing, stained glass, jewelry making, furniture refurbishing, scrapping, stamping, zentangling and now lately I've been doing art journaling.

I think I enjoy shopping for just the right supplies almost as much as the actual creation of new projects. I love the challenge of getting something created that I didn't know how to do at the start.

Very well said Cynthia. To put it in brief. Anyone can do Anything. It just takes putting aside the fear, having the desire to do it, and invest the time. Something we all have the same amount of each day.....:yesss

I crochet veeeerrrrrryyyyyyy slowly. I do enjoy it as a winter tv watching hobby though.

I cross stitch and hope to learn to sew (have the machine just need time!) and I doodle/tangle and do crafty things with Nikolai and kids. LOL!
AND I am also one that gathers supplies and thinks about using them!

Let's just say that I've never met a craft that I didn't like. I dabble in a little bit of everything! Aside from paper crafts, painting and mixed media are up there on my list right now. I like to sew on paper... does that count as sewing? My actual sewing list is kind of long, but I have put those projects on the back burner due to lack of interest. It's much more fun to sew paper. :)

I knit, crochet, cross stitch, sew (quilt), craft....cook, and digi scrap!

you aren't giving yourself the value you have, you know? you are AWESOME with doing hybrid stuff, you can create almost anything by what I have seen you doing for the pad letters...and I have my Bart and my ATCs with me here right now, magnetized to my computer (Bart) and put blue tack on the ATCs , are in front of me!!!!!!

I wish! Sadly no ...

Would someone like to come over and magically teach this southpaw how to crochet cute boot cuffs?

Nothing regularly. I will occasionally paint, and do a hybrid item. I used to be a paper scrapper/stamper card maker, plus making crafts with those things - candles, notebooks, shirts, walls - anything I could stamp!

I would love to learn how to sew, and quilt.

I draw everyday, a lot. I used to draw only abstract - stained glass window-ish drawings, but I am slowly learning to draw more representational things. I love to make collages. I physically scrapbook in my art journals, use collage, drawing, lettering, stamps & stencils, but I don't really art journal the traditional mixed media way with paints and everything, but I love my style, it's me. I make jewelry, beaded, domino pendants that I collage on with paper pieced ladies and gears, and sometimes stamp or paint on. I make cards, paper, hybrid, digital. I make things out of shrinky dinks. I've made felt flowers & paper flowers. I paint & draw on canvas. I make mod podged boxes and painted boxes (the latest one out of an old AOL free internet cd box from way back when.) I make ladies out of paper pieced scrapbook paper, bling, yarn & drawings. And other crafty stuff. All these things I practice and do for fun, like Cynthia says. It's my passion. You can do whatever you want. Doesn't mean I'm ready to write books and teach workshops (or ever will be), but I must do it. I need to make my art.

I watch too many tuts and collect too many ideas on pinterest -- and then remember -- you have enough projects!! I hoard art/scrapbooking supplies and pens. I save absolutely every piece of personal ephemera from vacations & special moments.
