I would like to know

wow!!! You ladies can do so many things!!
My to learn list :
Crochet
Knit
Zentangles
Sew
( I bet there will be more along the way)

Btw anyone can draw.. I know what you mean when you say you CAN'T !! I had the same exact thought for 40 years. Never did pick up a pencil to even sketch or doodle. I have been drawing, sketching, playing with paints for a year now. I am still not an amazing painter and I can't draw a realistic face but it has been therapeutic and a journey of discovery on how I conquer all the beliefs I have about myself (not good enough, I will never be able to) .

I do hope YOU TRY OUT WHAT YOU HAVE BEEN WANTING TO DO and not wait till you are 40 like me !! LOL!! Trust me you will be amaze with YOURSELF! Practice and patience are important!! So draw a stick man if you think you can't!!!! :giggle

Here is what I sketch 1 year ago :
( I told myself since I can't draw a FACE, let me just draw the back of any figure)

I wasn't brave enough to draw a face till this year.
This is one of my latest :

I thought of starting a creative pad here at TLP.(I haven't even spoken to my boss about this ) A place where one can share their artsy 'real life' stuff like painting, doodling, sketching, sewing, crochet, knitting, jewelry making or maybe teach us how to take that first step. Once you have taken the first step, it doesn't become so scary!! That was why I just wanted to hear from you ladies what do you do other scrapping.

Thank you for sharing with me your talent!!! I got to know you better through this thread!!

:heartslubI am looking forward to seeing your creation, to me it would be an inspiration!!

Oh geez! I'm a total hobby collector. I've dabbled in tons of crafts/arts along my lifetime. I have done painting, cross stitch, crochet, knitting, sewing, stained glass, jewelry making, furniture refurbishing, scrapping, stamping, zentangling and now lately I've been doing art journaling.

I think I enjoy shopping for just the right supplies almost as much as the actual creation of new projects. I love the challenge of getting something created that I didn't know how to do at the start.

I am still waiting to see your art journaling pages!! LOL!! YOU ROCK ALWAYS!!!

I draw everyday, a lot. I used to draw only abstract - stained glass window-ish drawings, but I am slowly learning to draw more representational things. I love to make collages. I physically scrapbook in my art journals, use collage, drawing, lettering, stamps & stencils, but I don't really art journal the traditional mixed media way with paints and everything, but I love my style, it's me. I make jewelry, beaded, domino pendants that I collage on with paper pieced ladies and gears, and sometimes stamp or paint on. I make cards, paper, hybrid, digital. I make things out of shrinky dinks. I've made felt flowers & paper flowers. I paint & draw on canvas. I make mod podged boxes and painted boxes (the latest one out of an old AOL free internet cd box from way back when.) I make ladies out of paper pieced scrapbook paper, bling, yarn & drawings. And other crafty stuff. All these things I practice and do for fun, like Cynthia says. It's my passion. You can do whatever you want. Doesn't mean I'm ready to write books and teach workshops (or ever will be), but I must do it. I need to make my art.

I watch too many tuts and collect too many ideas on pinterest -- and then remember -- you have enough projects!! I hoard art/scrapbooking supplies and pens. I save absolutely every piece of personal ephemera from vacations & special moments.

OMG!! Do you have a FB page or blog so that I can stalk you?

Nothing regularly. I will occasionally paint, and do a hybrid item. I used to be a paper scrapper/stamper card maker, plus making crafts with those things - candles, notebooks, shirts, walls - anything I could stamp!

I would love to learn how to sew, and quilt.

OH!! YOU PAINT TOO!!!

well, I was actually thinking about this this morning, when I got the Tate Gallery's email about the new exhibition.....
and how (like I said in my initial post ) anyone can become a re-known artist or even teach........
The new exhibition is about this guy called Frank Auberbach.....
Apparently people think he is a genius...I see a monstrosity.

I LOVE the Renaissance, Rococo, and then some impressionists and even some modernist..... but I even find a bit not to hang on my wall people like Dali or Frida Khalo, whom I admire greatly as a woman of an amazing life, but I would not pay money for her paintings......some of the drawings , maybe some of her self portraits, but when it gets too abstract, like, say Picasso in his all abstract stuff..... and again, Jackson Pollock which sells for a lot of money...I honestly do not share the love for it.

So, is all relative, and I still think beauty is on the eye of the beholder, so , what is awesome to me, may be a disaster to others.....
Therefore, I reckon if you pour your soul and ENJOY what you are doing, it will transpire and you will find an audience, so...who knows?
:)

My only artistic endeavour that involves me holding something in my hand OTHER than my mouse is colouring. I was given an adult colouring book by my girls and I am really enjoying it .... and I don't freak out when I colour out side the lines anymore :giggle
