Paper, or plastic?

we don't get a choice - and they wont use your bags if you bring them, you have to use the plastic bags they have at the store.

I've been using reusable so long that when I started 90% of stores didn't know what they were. They'd put paper or plastic INSIDE my canvas bags! That's not a problem anymore and the available bags are much better (they sit up!). I use reuseable 100% of the time; I carry a couple collapsible ones in my purse for small shopping trips (of every kind, not just grocery) and if I forgot to bring my bags in I just have them put everything back in the cart and bag them when I get to the car. The other day my bags weren't in my car because my husband used it, so I put it all in the back of the car and the kids carried it in a few things at a time! No paper, no plastic. Ever.

Reusable bags are the law here. If I forget or run out, then I buy the paper bags at checkout. I usually keep at least 5 bags in the trunk. The ones from Michael's & Target are the best.

No paper bags here either in any store. I use a "folded" bag which I can use everytime.

This is a very smart idea...I did that once and the store said that they needed to bag my groceries because of their store policy--but I would just scan my items and just put them back in the cart if the store allows just to put them in my reusables left in my car.

I wish we had paper bags here in England, but unless is a delicatessen (which the price wont allow me to shop there ) here is all plastic-

I have ours , big canvas or reenforced plastic that I re use for taking the recycling to the centers...because I never remember to take them with me when shopping, but then again, we use the plastic bags for the rubbish.... not much environmental friendly central London, am afraid :(

Paper at my regular store... the bags have handles! Afterwards I use them as trash bags.

Which store in Rapid has that policy, Jo? I lived in Rapid City for a year, but that was in 1997, before I started using canvas bags. I have done other things, too-- left my cart with a checker while I went back out to get my bags, for instance. I've also bought additional reuseable bags and then given them to someone who didn't have bags on a later shopping trip, or used them to contain items I was donating. But, really, I'd press them on the "must be bagged" issue and offer to carry my receipt with me as I exited the store. I hate grocery bags with a white-hot passion.

Paper isn't really a choice here..they tried to have them, but almost nobody used it. We carry our own bags

We have the scanner thing, however I'm really too lazy to scan.
And to be perfectly honest, my boyfriend usually go to the market without me :)
