I'm back!! Did you miss me??!!

love the photos amd how much fun!!!!!!
looking fiorward to see the pages!!!!

I love your descriptions of the food. I have an Aussie friend who lives right up the street from me and I have to find her some veggie-mite and I would love to learn how to cook Pavlova, so I do understand how everything would be a major change for you when you came here.

So where did you stay in San Diego, not that we are doing the trip this year... but still want to know, because I am nosy like that. LOL!!! Did you like it? Did you try our fairy cakes (cupcakes)?

We stayed at the Westin Gaslamp Quarter in San Diego and it was really central to what we wanted to do and see. It was quite nice too. I loved San Diego and would go back there again.

No I didn't try a cupcake, I did see a few shops that were just all cupcakes and I dribbled on their windows. We were so full after eating breakfast, that we pretty much just ate breakfast and dinner and not much else in between.

It sounds like you had an awesome time!!!! I can't wait to see more pictures!!!

Ahhhhh, vegemite...nothing of our's could be as bad as that stuff! LOL I know when I spent a summer in Australian and New Zealand...I had the hardest time with ketchup....it tasted completely different over there. I was SO craving some good french fries with ketchup and couldn't find any that lived up to my expectations!!! LOL

Vegemite is great! But you have to make sure you don't put it on too thick otherwise it is revolting!

We mainly have tomato sauce here rather than ketchup, which isn't as rich in flavour as ketchup. But I noticed the Heinz ketchup you have over there is pretty much the same as the Heinz one we have here.

I know what you mean Kim - even though I am a born and bred New Zealander having been brought up on north American staples such as heinz ketchup the stuff that is the norm here I hate

I hear you on the food! It's why so many Americans are overweight.

I'm glad you had a great trip! Did you go to Legoland?

yes we did go to Legoland, that was good fun too. We got absolutely saturated on the pirate ride and I loved the technic coaster. It was Star Wars weekend the day we were there so DH was in 7th heaven!

We also did Sea World & the San Diego zoo.

I live here in SoCal, and we never eat like that. I noticed that though when we had our friend from Japan here. She couldn't get over the portion sizes, the large sodas, etc...when we'd eat out. It really was kind of gross to think about how glutinous we seem to be here in the states.

What a great trip! It's so fun to hear about it and see your cute pics. Your food descriptions sound right (though most people don't eat like that at home, I don't think) except for the steak and pancakes- that's weird!

oh, am glad you had a good trip here,
I would be disappointed if you hadn't,
and now that you're home, have you
had any fairy bread yet? lol

welcome home, Kaye :)

I've lived in Oz since I was two years old Kaye and I have to admit that I have NEVER developed a taste for Vegemite! It reall is disgusting :giggle

That's because what you really want is yummy scrummy Marmite, not Vegemite! ;)

Glad you had a great trip Kaye!

it's so interesting to hear your perception of things here kaye! and i totally agree!

yes, steak with pancakes IS weird. very.

and not everyone everywhere in the US eats that way. many of us try to eat light and healthy and LESS, but restaurant foods are LOADED with salt and sugar and heaviness... you know... bigger is better and all that jazz. :)

glad you had a great time! would LOVE to see more pictures!! good luck with the laundry!
