I'm back!! Did you miss me??!!

did you notice that I was gone?? Nah probably not!

Well I have just returned from a fun-filled trip to the USA

We went to Disneyland, Santa Monica & San Diego. There was so much to see and do and we had a blast.

I have returned to cold weather here, so it is difficult catching up on all the laundry but it is good to be home. (and I'm enjoying eating 'normal' food again!)

If I hadn't been on my own hiatus I certainly would have missed ya!

It's always good to be back home isn't it?

Well I am a bit of a shutterbug and photography fan... i wouldn't mind going through that many pics. :giggle
I would hesitate to have to decide which ones to edit and post. You have your work cut out for you!! ;)

here's a couple from Disneyland . . .

You cracked me up with 'normal' food! LOL Glad you had a good trip and I'm sure all of you enjoyed DisneyWorld! How fun!

Me too... I want to know what you think is "normal" and what did you eat that wasn't normal while in the USA? Love the pictures! More, more!!! :)

now I am scared, I am going to san diego in a week and is their food ABnormal!? bhahahha
welcome back and I hope America was kind to you and your adventure was filled with good memories!

Haha well lets just say that the food choices over there are a lIttle different to home. I realise that we were eating out for every meal which you guys wouldn't do every day, but the breads I had were a lot sweeter than I'm used to, the serving sizes are HUGE and a lot of cheese, fries and chips are used.

We don't use potato chips as a side dish, they are a snack/party food here. I have never seen so much buttered popcorn or cotton candy in my life lol. We call cotton candy, fairy floss over here and it is something that you might get at the fair or school fete, popcorn is pretty much for the movies here and that's about it. I couldn't believe my eyes when I walked into Target and I could buy buttered popcorn lol

Your regular size drinks are our large size and I would be hard pressed to find a restaurant around here that offered unlimited refills. I nearly fell over backwards when I saw the size of the large drinks, they are massive.

Thats some of the differences, the others were mainly that it was hard to find meals that were served with say steamed veggies, or more than one variety of vegetable, we had weird combinations like DH ordered a steak and it came with a side of pancakes. Well we think that's weird but maybe it's not.

It was nice to try 'real' Mexican food rather than our Aussie version of it. The ice creams with the chocolate chip cookies were pretty good too.

Nothing was totally gross, it was just heavier, sweeter, more of it than we are used to.

Oh and yes your toilets do flush the opposite way, it was one of the first things I checked out!

adorable pictures, sounds like you had a great time! I loved reading your descriptions of our abnormal food :) and our toilets flush opposite?? I totally have to go to Aussie land to check now!!! :)

I love your descriptions of the foods too! You hit it right on, bigger, sweeter, heavier! I find when I eat out a lot on vacation I'm anxious to get back to my regular diet too. I crave a salad or veggies by the end and I live here! You should see the movie size large drinks. Nuts.

Great pictures - thanks for sharing!

your food descriptions are totally spot on!!! It's why we don't eat out much either, lol...

love the photo sneaks and glad you had a good time...

glad to have you back!!!

Oh yay! fun photos. I can imagine it was a fun time. You certainly hit the nail on the head with our abnormal food here in the US. Things like cotton candy were only available at carnivals and festivals were a real treat, but now are available at restaurants and grocery stores. It really is crazy if you think about it.

So where did you stay in San Diego, not that we are doing the trip this year... but still want to know, because I am nosy like that. LOL!!! Did you like it? Did you try our fairy cakes (cupcakes)?
