My last name...

Oh and as for being called something different there's this chap at work calls me Rachel and has done for 5 years even tho I'm wearing a big name badge and one day he called me Kerry and I thought oh it's getting closer and he said oh I got your name wrong RACHEL

that is too hilarious!!!

I think I have got them all wrong so far :blush
except Kaye.

My poor kids always get the wrong pronounciation. My son's name is Lachlan (lock-lan) it was the most popular boys name in Australia the year he was born and I am sure most Europeans have heard of it, but when we lived in the US it was hillarious to see how people pronounced it. We also used to always say his name at Starbucks just to see how they would spell it.

My daughter is Danae (da-nay) and she gets Dane or Danny a lot.

Really? I'm in California and I would've pronounced your kid's names correctly the first time. That's so odd that people wouldn't have been able to figure them out. They aren't common here, but I've certainly heard both those names before!

Yeah, what Debra said! But I actually do have friends or friends with kids with those names so maybe that's why! ;)

as for being called the wrong thing, my last name is hilleary (pronounced like hillary clinton). whenever i introduce myself as rebecca hilleary, 9 times out of 10 it is hilleary that sticks in their head, and they always end up calling me that as my first name. so i now just introduce myself as rebecca and withhold the last name unless they really need to know. avoids a LOT of confusion. :giggle

Rebecca...I had a friend whose name was Becky Jack. I can't tell you how many people thought her name was Jackie Beck. I can totally understand people getting confused like that.

that is too hilarious!!!

It gets worse debra when i was pregnant i mean at the end looking like a tank he used to ask me if i was having a baby, then after i had her he saw me and si struggling to get the pram up with me holding her and he asked if i had had my baby yet and asks me everytime i go in there even when she is with me lol

The guy's a total nutcase then! OMGosh!!!

Hhahahahaha. I had a flashback to like - what now - 6 years ago....when I spelled your last name wrong on every CT LO I made for you. I haven't made that mistake since I spent 4 hours in the galleries fixing all of the descriptions.

Thanks for the PSA, Ms. Fredricks

OMGOSH! Me too!!!!!!!! Bahahahahahahaha!

oh my word jenn, i'm doing a forehead slap right now. sorry, i have forever done a mental mispronunciation of your name. gaah! sorry. will fix it in my head asap.

ETA: been thinking about this and I don't say the hair thing that way, but rather the correct pronunciation of Jenn's name!

I got Jenn's right!:faint2
When I saw she added to this I thought "oh crap, bet I've been wrong!" but I was right! :)

Oooh, oooh! I've been saying it correctly! Do I get a brownie point?

ROFL! This thread is too funny. And I'm ashamed to admit that I was 1 for 3. I actually pronounce and spell your name right, Karah!

But, I have been pronouncing Jacque, "Jacques" too...although I've never thought you were a man! LOL! I'm from cajun-french Louisiana and actually know a couple of Jacque's who pronounce it "Jacques", so I have an excuse. :)

And Kaye, I thought it was "Winn-ecki" too! And I've been saying it that way for so long, that in my mind it probably always will be...but I promise to spell it right!

And I feel your pain girls. My maiden name was greek...Karamales. "Car-ma-less". I can't even begin to tell you the variations I've heard on that one. And now I'm Jordan Carroll, which usually gets spelled Carol. And both my first and last name can be a first or a last name, so no one knows if I'm Jordan, or if I'm Carol. HA!
