Orange | Pad Patter 4.27.23

Orange is NOT my favorite color. I usually think of Auburn football, Alabama's nemesis. LOL

I do love citrus, but orange is not a color I routinely go for. I'll admit I've used it more recently than I ever have in layouts and decorations.

Growing up as a kid in the 1970s, we had orange shag carpeting in our family room. Oh, and "harvest gold" appliances in the kitchen, of course.
Original appliances were brown. Orange shag carpet was put in about 1978/1979 to cover the hardwood Mom was tired of waxing every year (and the dog had died). That carpet was in the house until 2003 and was in the living room, dining room and hallway. We had indoor/outdoor carpet in the kitchen! Mom loved those fall colors even in the 60's when they built the house.

When you think of orange what do you think of? Oranges, orange juice, popsicles, and Florida.

What is your favorite shade of orange? Rust orange and related fall shades.
How could I forget popsicles and Florida?!

Mom's favorite color was orange so our house was decorated with lots of orange although Dad said absolutely not to any orange walls. He gave in on the orange carpet though (got rid of that 20 years ago). After all this was the 1970's when that was the predominant color palette for decorating. The brown couch got recovered (along with a chair) to a floral pattern in those 1970 colors. I still have it!
Ooh I love the papers you used to fill those rings! I'm trying to remember if my mom's carpet was orange originally...

Orange is my favorite color ... I love all shades
I think of orange juice or my grandparents 70s couch at their cabin on the lake
I never knew orange is your favorite color! I'm really wanting some OJ after starting this thread haha

We had the green appliances and linoleum haha

I love orange!! Not to wear at all, but to look at :)
It's one of my very favorites! It makes me think of sunrises/sunsets, and some of my favorite flowers. I love a beautiful bright orange!
I had a dark orange Nike tee growing up and it was my favorite shirt for a very long time! I never wear orange any more though.

I am an orange color fan! I must admit, I primarily associate orange with Halloween and pumpkins (and I LOVE pumpkins).

My fav. orange is burnt orange. But I am a fan of brights too. Orange is not as passionate and fiery as red, and it's not so chipper as yellow. So, it's a nice in-between. It's happy and powerful, but not overbearing.
How did I forget Halloween and pumpkins?! I love your in-between explanation and completely agree.

Rival teams can definitely ruin colors haha

I don't think I'd survive with carpet in the kitchen or dining room. Food clean up is much easier for me on hard surfaces.

Well, there were no small kids in the house for the spills. But indoor/outdoor carpet in the kitchen could take anything you threw at it... I mean, it could be used outdoors! Sweeper did the job getting the crumbs.

When you think of orange what do you think of? sunsets, midnight sun and the orange trees in Greece and Sevilla
What is your favorite shade of orange? apricot, honey, melon, ginger, pumpkin and carrot

Orange makes me think of fall colors and pumpkins. :)

I don't wear much orange except in the fall/winter months.

When you think of orange what do you think of? My daughter's travel softball team colors are navy & bright orange!

What is your favorite shade of orange? Orange is not my favorite color- and it doesn't look good on my skin tone at all- but If I had to choose a fave- probably the neon orange or a really subtle peach! ;)

When you think of orange what do you think of? Depends on the shade of orange and what I think of. Bright orange I love and is a refreshing, happy, cheerful color. I think of Florida, yummy fresh squeezed orange juice. Darker oranges remind me of my favorite season, Fall! It's a cozy color and I love all different shades of orange together because it reminds me of all the beautiful fall leaves we get here in Pennsylvania.

What is your favorite shade of orange? I like the bright oranges the best because they just cheer me up!

The orange trees in Greece and Sevilla sound amazing! I love that your favorite shades of orange are all edible ;)

when I think of orange I think of my son. He has autism and he spent just over a year fixated on orange. Everything had to be orange. I'm so glad he out grew that, and moved onto a fixation with healthy eating. That is so much easier to live with and he has stuck with that fortunately.

He gave in on the orange carpet though (got rid of that 20 years ago).

The original carpet in our office (1980) was shades of orange with a tiny bit of brown. We even had orange phones that we rented from Ma Bell. Similar to this one, but the cords were bright orange to:

We finally replaced that carpet about five years ago when the sewer backed up into our office and flooded the floor ... gross!!!

Our carpet was a dark orange, almost rust colored. At least it wasn't bright orange! I also have a photo of the indoor/outdoor carpet in the kitchen. It was also in shades of orange/brown/rust and was patterned.

Orange is either well loved in my state or hated. We have a southern football rivalry between Clemson and University of SC. Clemson is orange/purple and USC is garent/black. Go garnet and black!
