Rachel Jefferies Mixed Media Challenge - May 2020

full

I think I used some new product, but it may be April instead of May. This was a fun challenge, it let me follow my own inclinations...

I looked at the opening and used the frame and the texture from the textile and added a paper texture and a stitch. There was an actual party for a huge sink hole that occured in downtown New Orleans because it happened around May 5 for Cinco de Mayo! I used Rachels add on for the M3 monthly May 2020

This was a wonderful challenge! I've never tried taking inspiration from textiles before; what a great idea. I was inspired by the black and white fabric with the red stitched X, and also by the stitching around the piece of cloth. I started out with red, and ended up with orange and purple! It just morphed - really a great exercise. Thanks so much!

Here's mine, thanks for the challenge.

Inspired by the red and black markings and the stitching.

Yea! I am pleasantly surprised by how many joined the challenge this month. Textile arts to digital art...thats a mixed media challenge for sure...yet, some found inspiration in the palette, some the mark making, some the botanicals and some made a layout about textiles!!! I absolutely love that during the creative process, your muse went in its own direction. Oftentimes, those are the very best layouts.

(New release bonus entry)
This is my take. I was inspired of so much in the board, but the tree at the water, the stitching, the red X, flowers on a steam, the clouds over the house and the Pattern in the middle bottom photo. Great challenge!

My inspiration was the muted colors in the landscape (second from the bottom left), the stitching outlines around the left bottom.

My word....three layouts snuck in on me... But got 'em accounted for!!!! Woot woot!

Thanks for the challenge! I was inspired mainly by the two long grey pictures in the top corner, the darker blues/greys including the clouds behind the house and also by all of the vertical and horizontal lines. Here is my "reflect" page that came out of it...
