I only know this ' holiday' was yesterday because of Anne's blog post! (I do concede this is more worthy of the term 'holiday' than ChocMint day)
My George is in Anne's post - I had to take him to the vet this week (which is hard for both of us!) so I've been thinking about animals even without knowing there was a day for it.
My 14y.o. has told me she can't imagine life without a bird inside, talking or whistling etc in the background while the radios on etc; he's older than her so she hasn't ever known any different.
So did you have a pet as a child? What was your first pet & feel free to share a photo or memory; and if you didn't, if you could of had anything, what would you have had?
Mine was Houdini, he was a green&yellow budgie that would escape from his cage but not fly far with his wings clipped, I don't have any photos of him & he died maybe when I was in early highschool, I can't really remember but I remember mum finding him on the floor of the laundry occasionally clearly preferring to practice his escape artistry than sleep & in the camelia bushes next to the verandah another time, he earnt his name!
DS would definitely still want a dragon or some kind of dinosaur as a pet but he loves George too luckily!

We'd open the back door and a bunch of them would come running for attention. I loved that! They were so much nicer than any of the other indoor cats I've had in my life. Indoor cats are so snooty and will only allow you to pet them when they feel like it. Our outdoor cats couldn't get enough attention. Lol. I used to sleep in the hayloft in the summers and I'd have 2 or 3 cats all snuggled up to me all night long. We also and a stray dog that showed up and never left for several years, but we had to get rid of him because he got way too protective of my sister and I and would try to eat people who'd walk/run by our house on the road.
