Are you a movie treat person? Nick went to the movies with a friend on Saturday who insisted he get a treat with him, even though they just ate dinner. Nick and I are not movie treat people. We'll take our own to the drive-in (double feature!) and occasionally pop popcorn at an at-home movie, but in general, we don't have treats at movies.

I've learned my friends are big treat people at the movies! So, which camp are you? Does it depend on where the movie is? How long it is?

I’m too cheap to buy anything at the movie theatre so I usually buy a small treat and drink at the grocery store to bring in my bag when I go but in saying that I maybe watch two movies a year if that.

We don't go to the movies very often anymore, but when we do I definitely use it as an excuse to get a box of milk duds! :giggle That usually means stopping at Walgreens to get a box for a dollar and not having to spend $10 for the same box at the movies. Especially since the movie tickets are SOOOOO expensive these days. My oldest is like Pavlov's Dog... if he starts watching a movie, he MUST eat a bag of microwave popcorn.

I am more of a treat smuggler, but when I buy food there it will be popcorn and astros (chocolate like smarties) which gets added into the sour cream and chive flavoured popcorn.

Go to the movies??? what does that mean - LOL I'm a Netflix girl and when my friend treated me to a showing of Downton Abbey, she got popcorn and I got - a decaf bottled Dunkin iced coffee. I drank it s l o w l y so I didn't have to run off to the bathroom.

On my own, in the past, I would go to the $ store and get Dots or Jujubes or both.

I'm a treat smuggler. I'll go to the grocery or dollar store to get candy for boys. That goes in my purse. I will have boys smuggle a bottle of water or soda in too. They usually wear hoodies, so that is easy. I do buy a bucket of popcorn for everyone to share. Nothing like movie popcorn!

My question is how many people who work there see/check... and does anything happen?

I'm both. We don't go to the movies often but if I have a Trader Joes Organic popcorn on hand, I'll bring that and a Lily's chocolate bar but if I don't have any popcorn in the house (which is often the case b/c I don't eat corn much so usually only buy 4-5 bags from TJ's a year) then I will indulge and get movie theater popcorn with extra butter and a bag of Swedish Berries which is what I got last wkend at the movies (Malicifent). I did find the SB's too sweet though as I guess over the last couple of yrs my taste buds have changed and sugar tastes too sweet for me so I probably will not get them again, I'll stick to 75% dark chocolate treats.

The last time I purchased treats was when my kids were joining their youth group at the movies. I had promised them a soda and candy each since I knew everyone else would be doing that. Well, one soda and box of candy cost almost twice the price of the movie ticket! So, we smuggle things in. I can't have soda, so I always bring a bottle of water, and air-popped popcorn since I can't have the stuff the theater serves.

I generally only go to the movies with one particular friend of mine or my kids and yes, we always have treats.

My friend eats very healthy 90% of the time but will save up her calories/carbs/points when she knows we're going to a movie because she looooooves movie popcorn. One of us buys the tickets, and one buys the popcorn + a pop.

When I take the kids, we get at least one popcorn & one pop for the 3 of us to share. I will sometimes buy an extra treat, like chocolate, to be used as a bribe towards the end of the month when the 5yo is getting restless and chatty. It usually costs less for 3 matinee movie tickets for us than it does for a popcorn, a pop, & some candy!

For us, there just aren't very many movies worth leaving home to see. Too many are dark, violent or juvenile. When the rare exception occurs, I have the perfect bag to carry- a Relic that holds any snack you might wish for, and we take our own bottled drinks.

I haven't been to a theater for years until a week ago. Steph and I took Asher to see The Adams' Family. My dd bought nachos and drinks for both of them and I took my own water. I'm a treat smuggler if I ever do go.

On a side note - we went to an I-Max Theater and they have an Arcade. Asher got me there. LOL I ended up giving him $20 to buy coins to play the games, but he beat The Claw! He won a really nice stuffed frog! So, don't buy treats, but buy arcade coins. :giggle:giggle:giggle

Honestly, we don't go to the movies much anymore. I think we saw one movie last year? LOL And when we do go, we're generally smugglers for candy, but popcorn and drinks we'll usually get there. :)

We don’t go to that many movies anymore, but when we do, we always have the buttered popcorn and a pop. I have smuggled :flirtyin candy for the grandkids on occasion.

We recently purchased a membership to the art house type theater near us, so we go a lot more often now. If we plan on having dinner after the movie, we get popcorn to snack on. If we've just eaten before the movie, we get a pack of Twizzlers to share. Drink is almost always water for some reason. I'm not quite sure how this system evolved... but it has :giggle

I grew up super cheap so we never had anything to eat at movies. My husband is the opposite so we always buy a large popcorn with a free refill and bring our soda mug for cheap refills. We watch movies at home most often and if I know it's going to be intense I keep a water with me so I don't chew my fingers off from the suspense.

We've got a "cheap" movie theater that we visit... tickets and treats for under $30 for a family of 4. You gotta get treats. :)

We don't go to the movies very often, maybe once a year and sometimes not that often. I smuggle in candy, but the popcorn, man, I gotta have movie theater popcorn. We usually get a large and share it because they give free refills on those and I like to have some to take home, too :) Sometimes, if it's just me and Chance, we split a pop and do the free refill as well.

I just went to the movies last weekend/ first time in a long time. We had to have popcorn to share. Love movie popcorn!

astros (chocolate like smarties) which gets added into the sour cream and chive flavoured popcorn.
Oh! I want sour cream and chive popcorn!

I'm a Netflix girl
Hey, you can eat treats with your Netflix! Or Redbox. Or whatever. They are cheap at home :agree

My question is how many people who work there see/check... and does anything happen?
I know when my friends worked there in high school, they didn't care enough because they "weren't paid enough" to do anything about it.

Swedish Berries
Mmm...Love me some swedish berries!

I had promised them a soda and candy each since I knew everyone else would be doing that
Ugh. I hate that! I think that's the last time I bought munchkin a treat - with friends.
