Journaling Reads:
Then
This picture was taken shortly after we said I love you for the very first time. Everything about being “us” was new and exciting. There were weekly dates, times out with friends, & learning all about each other’s families. We had not yet thought much about the future, but instead were absorbed in all of the little moments. There were slow kisses in the dark, cuddles during a movie, and late nights where neither of us wanted you to go home. It was filled with excitement and I wanted nothing more than to make you happy. I spent lots of time thinking of ways to show you how special you were to me and I even shaved each and every week! You were really something and my greatest hope was that you might just love me enough to spend the rest of your life with me. I really, truly, thought I loved you more than I ever possibly could.
Now Now we have been a pair for nearly twenty years. Over time, love has slowed down into an very steady series of rituals and routines that show how deep our love has grown. It is you making me cups of coffee and a pancake every morning. It is our weekly hot date to the grocery store and our monthly (or quarterly or annual) dates to more high key events. I don’t shave for you all the time any more, but I also never doubt that you love me fully. We have built a beautiful life with our wonderful boys. We spend our time still stealing a snuggle on the couch or spending time with our family and friends. Our love is slow and easy most of the time. When challenges come our way, I know that you will wake up next to me each and every morning and we will
jump right back on the horse. I love you more than then!
I loved reading your journaling! Reading about how you were then, and how you are now was really fun! I love how you reflected on the difference in your lives over time!
