I was a mermaid

This is more a childhood memory that my parents told me over and over.
I was about 5 years old, we were on vacation after Summer.
It wasn't cold, but it wasn't warm either.
There was this huge Swimming pool in the hotel we were staying in. And I wanted to go inside.
I was dressed in some pants and a sweatshirt.
My parents said no of course more than once. Suddenly my parents and their friends saw me half-naked (only with socks), standing on the edge, ready to jump in
(into a cold water Swimming pool with lots of Autumn leaves) ...
they shouted, but it was too late, I just jumped and swim until they took me out.
My parents were upset but also stunned by this brave and stubborn 5-year-old girl.
They used to call me the mermaid girl because I loved the ocean and swimming pools...
I think I still do.
