Journaling: Once upon a time there was a girl out of college who need to support herself. She found a job at a local hospital. And over the years, while she advanced through the ranks within the organization, acquiring more and more staff, she was not happy. Then in the late 1980’s, a position at that same hospital opened up for her, her dream job as a systems analyst. She was elated! Fast forward five years. The hospital decided to offer an e-mail service to a chosen few, and she was one of those few. Her employer scouted around and found a local provider who would take them on. The girl was asked create her mailbox name. But it was early in the days of e-mail and internet, and that name was limited to six characters. With this being her work account, and with her being sensible, it was suggested that she go with her name, or the portion of her name that would fit. And so mcurtt was born, the initial of her first name and the first five characters of her last name. As the years passed, her employer created their own domain, and the girl’s six character moniker was grandfathered in for the new e-mail account. Later, when she acquired her various personal e-mail accounts, out of habit, and perhaps lack of creativity, she stuck with mcurtt. Fast forward to 2006, she discovered digital scrapbooking. She began downloading freebies and purchasing product. User name? What is that? Without giving it much thought, she signed up as mcurtt. It was what she was familiar with, plain and simple, a user name that was part her, part anonymous, easy for her to remember. A bit boring perhaps, but it is what it is. That is her story, and she is sticking to it.
Love your journaling! Isn't it funny how something like a username just becomes part of us! It's so interesting reading everyone's stories. This page is so great and just so perfect for your story!!
What great journaling. Your page is unusual, and eye-catching ,and I don't so think some how that it is lack of imagination that made you keep it. You will always be mcurtt to me,-though in my head it gets pronounced "Ma curt "
I love the way you used the tech pieces to accent your story! I love the way you have kept the same user name for so many years! I don't think it's lack of creativity. Thanks for sharing!
