Back yard redwood trees are not common in the Seattle area. But we inherited this beauty when we bought the lot on which we built our house. Because it is so rare, I dearly love it. It is messy all year round, shedding dead branches that get tangled in our grand-dog’s fur. Tiny cones and needles leave the patio in need of sweeping all summer. We recently had a tree service come to clean it up and thin it out. It was spreading over to the neighbor’s yard, so it had to have a few branches removed. It may be a bit high-maintenance, but we would never consider cutting it down. We love how it can be seen for blocks away despite the myriad fir and cedar trees. Squirrels and birds frolic in it. It provides shade, and is just a joy to behold. I’m surprised we haven’t named it!
so beautiful Sharon±!!!!! gorgeous page visually and the journaling..... I understand so much, we have a couple of trees in our garden in Brazil that were LOTS of work, but still loved them and manage because we couldn't ever get rid of them....to this day Sarita tells everybody how she grew up eating fruit from the trees.... that is priceless gorgeous title work, elegant as always!!!!
Goodness, what a treasure you have there in your own backyard Sharron! Yes, some trees can get messy, but as you said, the sheer beauty and majesty of this tree certainly makes up for it. Stunning page design and photos!
That's a beautiful photo. Love your journaling. Love that you love your tree and don't mind keeping up with the maintenance that it needs. It's wonderful.
That's a grand idea, Dalis! It surely deserves a name. Sharon, not everyone respects such marvelous gifts of nature so it's wonderful to hear of when people do. Can you imagine the history it has witnessed. Oh, if it could only speak aloud! Thank you for charing your touching story.
