~ Cut it out! ~

GOOOOOOD Monday, Pad hoppers!

Today, I (Kristin) have a new cutting-edge (lol) challenge for you, some wonderful inspiring takes on this challenge to show you by the pollywogs, and lastly, the winner of last week’s Song and Lyrics challenge from Renee.

Get your mojo revved up…. ’cause I think this inspiration idea will have your fingers itching to reach for your touchpad/mouse/stylus:

Using at least 75% lilypad goodies, at least one of which is Oct BuildYourOwnCollab (BYOC) product,
CUT OUT on your background using one of the shapes (element or alpha) from your page/project,

Hint on one way you can cut-out a shape: (In PhotoshopCS2) I would CTRL+click on the icon in the layers palette of the, say, leaf element. That would make a selection active in the shape of the leaf. Then, with the Marque tool selected and set to “make new selection” I can move the selection around on my page by clicking and holding inside the selection and moving…. then pressing delete would erase that selection out of the paper. Add shadowing, MAYBE a teeny bevel, to your paper layer and it looks dimensionally cut out.

I’m a creative who pulls inspiration from all corners of life—both the joyful highs and the real-life moments that punch you in the gut. Honestly, I don’t think I can pin down a single scrapbooking style for myself, so let’s just go with eclectic. My layouts really depend on my mindset. If I’m in a deep, cerebral mood, you’ll likely see something chaotic and messy. If I’m more relaxed, it tends to come out clean, simple, and structured.

My brain is usually running on several channels at once, so it’s completely normal for me to be working on a digital layout, dabbling in a hybrid project, and getting messy with art journaling or mixed media—all at the same time.

Here are a few of my go-to tools: Digital: Adobe Photoshop CC + my MacBook; Photos: Canon Rebel or iPhone; Hybrid: Cricut Joy + sewing machine; Art Journaling: watercolors, stencils, and artsticks

And when it comes to embellishments—digital or physical—I’m always reaching for messy threads, ribbons, and Polaroids. Always the Polaroids.
