August Challenges

Hello there! Polly Karen here and it’s another brand new month and that means another batch of challenges here! This year we added one more challenge each month to give you more opportunities for creating pages! Now instead of 7 monthly challenges, we’ve added an eighth challenge. You do not have to complete all 8 challenges in order to have a change to win a guest spot on the creative team either, we added another one for those who have requested more challenges and you still only have to complete 7 of them to be considered for a guest spot on the creative team! You can choose one to skip if you want! So, mostly everything remains the same. You complete challenges in order to earn a coupon of your next purchase in the store (2 challenges = 10%, 4 challenges = 20% and 6 challenges = 30%) AND everyone who completes at least 7 challenges will be considered for a one month guest spot on the creative team (The Pollys). So let’s take a look at this month’s new batch of challenges!
1. Photography Challenge – August’s Photography Challenge is hosted by the fabulous Jenn McCabe. This month she is challenging you to find new and creative ways to show the idea of “I was here”. Jenn has some great examples in the forum to spark your creativity and here is a layout she created using her own creative photo:
2. Style Challenge – The Style Challenge for this month is hosted by Heather (HeatherB) and she wants you to fully capture a moment or event by using at least 3 photos on your layout. Heather is QUEEN of the multiple photos layout and here is a perfect example that she created:
3. Inspiration Challenge – Heather (talktoheather) is hosting August’s Inspiration Challenge. Heather wants to remind us all to slow down and relax… and then scrap a layout about a relaxing moment. Here is a great relaxing page that Heather created:
4. Scraplift Challenge – The Scraplift Challenge for June is hosted by Ashley (ashleywb) and she is challenging you to scraplift a page from Ga_L’s gallery. Simply pick a layout that inspires you and create a new page based on that layout. Here is a layout from Ga_L’s gallery followed by Ashley’s scraplifted version:

5. Random Challenge – The Random Challenge for August is hosted by Lori (lcpereyra). Lori is challenging you to use Word Art on your layout, this can be especially helpful when you’re at a loss for journaling and word art can express your feelings all in one fell swoop! Here’s a perfect example created by Lori:

6. Template Challenge – August’s template challenge is hosted by Julie (mrs2a50) and the free template has been provided by the generous Heather Joyce. All you have to do to play along is download the free template and complete a layout using it. Here’s a look at the template followed by a layout created by Julie:

7. Journaling Challenge – Amanda (MandaKay) is hosting the Journaling Challenge for this month. Amanda is giving you all the great nudge to get scrapping (and especially journaling about) those many vacation photos you have piled up in your hard drive. Even if it’s a small trip that you just need the excuse to start scrapping… now’s your perfect chance! Here’s a lovely page created by Amanda:
8. BYOC Challenge – Last, but certainly not least is the BYOC Challenge. August’s BYOC Challenge will be posted to the forum on Friday, August 5th when all the new BYOC Products for August will be released in the store. This challenge, hosted by Renee (renee82), is to use 90% of the products on your page from the current BYOC collection and from at least 3 designers.
Challenge Galleries: (post your pages to these galleries)
Another month and another 8 great new challenges to keep you busy scrapping. Once you create your own layouts inspired by these challenges, be sure to post them to the appropriate galleries as listed above. Then be sure to also post them to the appropriate thread in the challenge forum. See the thread HERE for further challenge guidelines and see the August Challenge Pad HERE to get started! Don’t forget to post all of your completed layouts in the Challenge Layouts thread so we can be sure to get you the proper coupon at the end of the month. I’ll be back near the end of the month to shine the spotlight on some of the pages created for these challenges! I can’t wait to see what you come up with! Happy scrapping!
