April Challenges

2016-04 April Challenge Overview finished

Hello everyone and happy spring!  It’s Polly Karen here.   I’m here with a look at the new batch of monthly challenges.  Starting in February, we have even added one more challenge each month to give you more opportunities for creating pages!  Now instead of 7 monthly challenges, we’ve added an eighth challenge.  You do not have to complete all 8 challenges in order to have a change to win a guest spot on the creative team either, we added another one for those who have requested more challenges and you still only have to complete 7 of them to be considered for a guest spot on the creative team!  You can choose one to skip if you want!    So, mostly everything remains the same.  You complete challenges in order to earn a coupon of your next purchase in the store (2 challenges = 10%, 4 challenges = 20% and 6 challenges = 30%) AND everyone who completes at least 7 challenges will be considered for a one month guest spot on the creative team (The Pollys).  So let’s take a look at this month’s new batch of challenges!

1.  Inspiration Challenge –  This month’s Inspiration Challenge is hosted by Jenn and she wants you to create a layout that focuses on the positive things in your life right now.  Here is a great sample page that Jenn created:

2.  Scraplift Challenge –  The Scraplift Challenge for April is hosted by Ashley (ashleywb) and she has chosen the fabulous KarenB’s gallery as your inspiration to scraplift from.  Simply visit Karen‘s gallery and pick a layout that you love and create your own version of her page.  Here is a layout that Ashley selected, followed by a layout she created:

3.  Photography Challenge – Lori (lcpereyra) is hosting this month’s Photography Challenge and she has a great lesson on the Rule of Thirds.   Once you read over her pointers, simply create a layout using a photo that you’ve taken that applies the Rule of Thirds.  Here is a perfect example by Lori:

4.  BYOC Challenge –  The BYOC Challenge for April is hosted by Amanda (MandaKay).  All you have to do is use 90% of the products on your page from the current BYOC collection and from at least 3 designers.   Here is a super fun layout created by Amanda to get you started:  (Happy birthday Amanda!)

5.  Style Challenge –  April’s Style challenge is hosted by Julie (mrs2a50) who, as the queen of minimalistic layouts, is challenging you to create a Clean and Simple Style page.   She reminds us that clean and simple doesn’t necessarily mean lots of white space, just clean and tidy.  Here is an example from the queen herself:

6.  Journaling Challenge –  Heather (HeatherB) is hosting this month’s Journaling Challenge.  Heather is challenging you to create a layout that includes journaling about a routine in your life, maybe a daily routine or a weekly routine.  Here is a great sample layout created by Heather about their current sports schedules worked into their weekly routine:

7.  Random Challenge –  Heather (talktoheather) is hosting the Random Challenge for April.  Heather wants you to create and layout that uses only a single color.  Here is a super monochromatic page created by Heather:

8.  Template Challenge – Last, but certainly not least, we have Renee (renee82) hosting this month’s template challenge. All you have to do is use the supplied free template generously provide by Danyale of Etc. by Danyale and create your own layout.  Here is the free template followed by a layout created by Renee:

Another month and another 8 great new challenges to keep you busy scrapping.  Once you create your own layouts inspired by these challenges, be sure to post them to the appropriate galleries as listed above.  Then be sure to also post them to the appropriate thread in the challenge forum.  See the thread HERE for further challenge guidelines and see the April Challenge Pad HERE to get started!  Don’t forget to post all of your completed layouts in the Challenge Layouts thread so we can be sure to get you the proper coupon at the end of the month.  I’ll be back near the end of the month to shine the spotlight on some of the pages created for these challenges!  I can’t wait to see what you come up with!  Happy scrapping!
