April Challenges
Hello everyone! It’s Polly Karen back again with a look at our new batch of monthly challenges for April. Each month we have 8 brand new challenges that are posted in the forum Challenge Pad on the 1st day of the month. (the BYOC Challenge is posted on the 1st Friday of the month.) You can use the challenges simply to inspire you to keep creating new layouts OR you can also earn yourself a fabulous coupon for your next shopping trip in the Lilypad Store. (2 challenges = 10%, 4 challenges = 20% and 6 challenges = 30%). Those who complete at least 7 challenges will be entered in a drawing for a $50 gift certificate! Isn’t that an awesome prize?!?! You’ll get lots of great memories captured in your scrapbooks AND you could win a fat gift certificate prize!!! Pretty great, right?! So let’s take a look at this month’s new batch of challenges!
1. Random Challenge – The first challenge for this month in the Random Challenge which is being hosted by Jenn (jk703). Jenn has created a fun recipe for you to use to create your layout. Simply use the list of instructions in the forum thread to create your page. Here’s a great sample layout that Jenn created:
2. Template Challenge – The Template Challenge for April is being hosted by Heather (HeatherB). All you have to do to play along is download the free template made by Designed by Soco and then create a layout using that fun template. Here’s a look at the free template followed by a sample layout that Heather made using it:
3. Scraplift Challenge – Ashley (ashleywb) is hosting the Scraplift Challenge for this month and she has to decided to add a fun twist to this month’s challenge. She wants you to use random.org to pick one page between 1 and 250 to pick a page in the gallery and then you can pick one layout from that page to scraplift! How fun is that? Here is a look at a layout that Ashley picked from a random gallery page, followed by her scraplifted version:
4. Journaling Challenge – The journaling challenge for April is hosted by Lori (lcpereyra) and she wants you to pick one international or national day that occurs in April and then create a layout about that day using at least 5 sentences of journaling. She also wants to know what the day or month theme is and when it occurs in April. Lori has several links to find a International or USA National Day in the forum thread. Lori created a layout about National Walking Day which is observed the first Wednesday in April:
5. Photography Challenge – The Photography Challenge for this month, hosted by Natasha (bcnatty), is to create a layout that features photo(s) about a food or dish you love. The photos must be new from this month for this challenge. Here’s a drool worthy layout that Natasha created for her challenge:
6. Inspiration Challenge – The Inspiration Challenge for April is being hosted by Courtney (bestcee) and she would like you to draw inspiration from a couple of Taylor Swift’s song lyric. Courtney picked four different lyrics for you to choose from in the forum thread. Here’s a sample layout that Courtney created drawing inspiration from one of those lyrics:
7. Style Challenge – The next challenge is the Style Challenge hosted by Kayla (keepscrappin) and she wants you to create a layout with a background that has a repeating pattern. The pattern can be small and subtle or big and bold. Here’s a fabulous sample layout that Kayla created for this challenge:
8. BYOC Challenge – Finally we have the BYOC Challenge. This challenge will be hosted and posted by Christa (Cfile) Friday, April 5th, when the BYOC Collection for April will be released in the store. The challenge will be to use 90% of the products on your page from this month’s BYOC collection and from at least 3 designers.

There is your quick peek at this month’s brand new batch of challenges. Once you create your own layouts inspired by these challenges, be sure to post them to the appropriate galleries as listed above.
