Lyrical Listen…
Who doesn’t love music?! The way that lyrics and music can move one’s soul is just amazing to me! As we come about to this coming weekend here in the states we begin to celebrate the 4th of July or Independence Day. It’s a day to celebrate the freedom that has been won for us. A day to celebrate the United States of America as a whole. Now, I realize that we have a TON of readers and Lilypad friends from all over the world, and I am not meaning to discount you all by this blog post. I merely hope to inspire each of you, no matter where you are from! I hope that wherever you are on this gorgeous earth we call home, that you have a pride for the country you live, a sense of belonging to your area, etc…
There is not too many songs out there that I can listen to over and over again and tear up to almost every time. This song does that for me. I remember listening to this song as a child – my Dad loved it! I remember singing with such bravado and umph! I would stand up during the part that sang “and I proudly stand UP”. The song still makes me want to sing it with such power – even at 31! I don’t think as a kid I even understood the real power of the song. Not like I do now! Now I belt it out because I really feel proud to be an American. I really feel proud for the men and women who fought for something they believed in. I think every country has those moments to be proud of. Those proud feelings.
So here is the song, by Lee Greenwood – God Bless the USA. And I hope that you feel inspired in some way to create a page from that feeling of inspiration, and if you do…please do show us! It may help that our July BYOC will really have some great things in it that might further inspire! 😉
Lee Greenwood: God Bless the USA
And the lyrics:
God Bless The Usa lyrics
Songwriters: Greenwood, Lee;
If tomorrow all the things were gone
I’d worked for all my life
And I had to start again
With just my children and my wife
I’d thank my lucky stars
To be living here today
‘Cause the flag still stands for freedom
And they can’t take that away
And I’m proud to be an American
Where at least I know I’m free
And I won’t forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I gladly stand up next to you
And defend her still today
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land
God Bless the U.S.A.
From the lakes of Minnesota
To the hills of Tennessee
Across the plains of Texas
From sea to shining sea

From Detroit down to Houston
And New York to L.A.
Well there’s pride in every American heart
And it’s time we stand and say
That I’m proud to be an American
Where at least I know I’m free
And I won’t forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I gladly stand up next to you
And defend her still today
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land
God Bless the U.S.A.
And I’m proud to be an American
Where at least I know I’m free
And I won’t forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I gladly stand up next to you
And defend her still today
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land
God Bless the U.S.A.
