Ladybugs for Lunch!
Greetings, Pad Scrappers!
Today, something fun for your Friday. I’m going to teach you how to make ladybugs for lunch.
Wait! Don’t run away– these are the yummy kind… like a mini caprese salad. Here’s how:
You’ll need medium sized tomatoes, basil leaves, whole black olives, a whole ball of mozzarella, balsamic vinegar and q-tips (yes, q-tips).
First, slice the mozzarella into semi-thin slices:
Arrange the cheese on a platter and lay a basil leaf on each one:
Then, slice each tomato in half as shown (from top to bottom):
Slice each olive into four parts as shown:
Add the tomatoes and olive parts to the leaves as shown:
Immerse a q-tip in vinegar and gently tap it on to the tomato to make dots:
Enjoy your ladybugs for lunch!
(p.s. don’t forget the best part about olives)
For many of us, it’s still warm enough to enjoy this on a hot day. My kids will each eat four to six ladybugs for lunch. It’s fun to watch people react when they tell them they ate ladybugs for lunch. 🙂
