Polly Picks Sarah (PLM)

Hello!  Polly Karen here bring you another installment of the popular Polly Picks!  Every two weeks we ask one of our staff members to choose their favorite products in the shop.  Then we put those products on sale!  Our latest Polly Picks sale includes products chosen by the fabulous Sarah (PLM):  

Sarah (PLM) is one of our newer Pollys, so it has been great getting to know her behind the scenes over the last year or so.  She is incredibly sweet and a very talented scrapper too!   As I was strolling through her gallery I noticed that she really can scrap in any style and make it look fabulous!     I asked Sarah to describe her style, and this is what she had to say:

“Describing my style is really hard for me, since I never know how my page will turn out when I start scrapping. I feel like it depends on the mood I’m in, what’s been going on in my life and which picture I have in mind to scrap. So, looking through my own gallery, I realize now that I scrap mostly with 1 picture and like to tell a story on a specific memory.

 

Scrapping has meant alot to me.  At first it gave me a reason to play and replay with the beautiful baby and toddler photos of my boys, then it became a creative outlet and turned into a way of evasion from my bad working situation. Right now scrapping means pure enjoyment and gives me peaceful fun moments. I have less time to scrap, but I enjoy it even more. As a result, I discover I am playing more with the scrapping goodies and like to try out new effects

 

In that sense, I enjoy how the Lilypad designers provide me with so many versatile goodies.  I can go from art journaling to clean and from soft to vibrant.  It’s still my dream to be able to have a PL album one day and the Lilypad keeps inspiring me to do so.”

I’m a creative who pulls inspiration from all corners of life—both the joyful highs and the real-life moments that punch you in the gut. Honestly, I don’t think I can pin down a single scrapbooking style for myself, so let’s just go with eclectic. My layouts really depend on my mindset. If I’m in a deep, cerebral mood, you’ll likely see something chaotic and messy. If I’m more relaxed, it tends to come out clean, simple, and structured.

My brain is usually running on several channels at once, so it’s completely normal for me to be working on a digital layout, dabbling in a hybrid project, and getting messy with art journaling or mixed media—all at the same time.

Here are a few of my go-to tools: Digital: Adobe Photoshop CC + my MacBook; Photos: Canon Rebel or iPhone; Hybrid: Cricut Joy + sewing machine; Art Journaling: watercolors, stencils, and artsticks

And when it comes to embellishments—digital or physical—I’m always reaching for messy threads, ribbons, and Polaroids. Always the Polaroids.
