Being creative
Hi, everyone!! It’s me Li Li. Today I’m going to share with you my new found creative outlet. A little information about me, I started scrapping in 2011 and since then I have always look for ways to grow and learn new things. Digital scrapping has helped me a lot in expressing all of who I am and since I started I am just the sort of person who is constantly looking for new ways to improve my layouts or how I see things (in terms of composition, colors and etc)
A month ago, I decided to do something that is totally out of my league. I got myself into drawing. I had to do it everyday for only 10 minutes. I am not sure about you but I am one of those who has this belief about myself that I can never draw. I can’t even draw a proper stick man!!! LOL!! Cut the story short.. I took the courage to go on this journey!! Here are a few of my first few drawings . (laugh if you want to!! lol!!)
I know some of you might have the conversation that you CAN’T DRAW OR YOU ARE JUST NOT A DRAWING KINDA PERSON!! Believe it or not I TOO HAD THE SAME CONVERSATION IN MY HEAD!! To be honest , I wanted to quit on the first day. I compared myself to all the other ladies who is amazingly talented, their drawings could be framed in an art gallery. MINE LOOKS LIKE A …. !!! With a lot of encouragement from my Polly friend Heather Greenwood, I trusted the process and drew consistently for 21 days. And yes Heather was right, my drawing not only improved along the way but I have found my own style of drawing. Most of all, I find it therapeutic to vent out on a piece of paper!!
It doesn’t have to be complicated, it can be as simple as drawing circles, triangles, rectangular … Here is one that I did just by SCRIBBLING :
I drew using white pen on black paper :
I have even created my own siggy:
I encourage you to try it out, spend maybe 10-20 minutes. Don’t overthink. Just draw whatever you are feeling or thinking at that moment. Just pick a black pen and a paper!!
Here is a prompt to assist you on your first drawing : DREAM A LITTLE DREAM.
This is mine :
Do share with me your first drawing if you are trying this out by leaving a link at the comment below. OOPPHHSSS!!! Before I forget here is a little something for you!! I have turned my drawings and doodles to brushes. You may download it HERE.
