I just have to share something that I learned and thought was a total game changer for me. I have been dabbling with real life art journaling since about 2015, but I still totally consider myself a newbie. My biggest hurdle is that I have a HUGE stash of amazing digital art journaling supplies, but I want to use them in real life and I've had a hard time with that transition other than printing out digital papers to collage. What I really want is all of the amazing paint splats and stamps and brushwork things to magically print right into my journal. Well, I found a trick and tried it out and it is amazing. 1. I printed on tissue paper (cut the tissue paper slightly smaller that your printer paper and carefully tape the corners to a piece of regular printer paper). 2. I did then spray the tissue paper with workable fixative because I have an inkjet printer and I didn't want it to smear when I added it to my journal. 3. I then slapped on some gel medium (matte) on my journal, laid the tissue paper on top and then coated with gel medium on top. The tissue paper just disappears and it look like I stamped the image on top of my other layers. It's like having a whole new stash of stamps without having to spend all the money on new stamps! So here are the elements I printed on tissue paper by Sahlin Studio: and here they are in my art journal... notice you can see the papers underneath the numbers, just like if they were stamped? Too cool!
OK ... that IS really cool! What a great idea. Smart girl! Your AJ page is beautiful ... and I just love the digi stamp set you played with!
You'll have to post pictures if you try! I've never seen anyone print on tissue paper before, such a great idea!!
ooooh wow!! what a FANTASTIC idea @Karen !!! my printer is finally up and running again AND I have some tissue paper handy so I am going to try this out!!! I also have some lovely patterned tissue paper so going to try the big numbers and alpha on it as well! thanks for sharing your terrific idea!!!
#Justseenthis. # doublewow What a super idea. I must remember it, it would be amazing for inserts of cards too I think....
Bravo, Karen! You can also iron fabric ( such as simple muslin) onto freezer paper and print. That makes a whole new world open up! Love me some hybrid!!!
