Ah, October! So happy it is finally here and along with it another round of challenges. For your inspiration this month I have chosen a piece of art (via pinterest) but originally from an etsy shop. It is a book lover thumbprint created by cheryl sorg studio. She takes a person's actual thumbprint, enlarges it, and then traces around the lines using strips of titles of the person's favorite books. There are so many things that appeal to me about this from the colors, to the ripple effect of the thumbprint, to the idea of a personal portrait of sorts in book titles. Take a look...and I am sorry that the image isn't clearer. I was inspired by the title strips themselves and used that idea to frame the photo in my layout. I hope that you find something inspiring about this piece of art or even the idea behind it. Your challenge is to translate that inspiration onto a page of your own. Can't wait to see what you come up with! And as always: Your page must contain at least 75% Lilypad product. Your page should be posted to the Lilypad Gallery and then linked to the Challenge Layouts thread so it can be tracked, and to this thread. The Lilypad uses a percent system for our challenges; the number of challenges you participate in determines the store discount you will receive at the end of the month: 2 challenges = 10% off 4 challenges = 20% off 6 challenges = 30% off If you complete 7 challenges, you will receive a coupon for 30% off, plus you will be entered to win a guest spot on the Lilypad Creative Team! The first seven challenges will be posted on the first of the month; the eighth challenge is the BYOC challenge, which is posted on BYOC release day. Each page counts for one challenge (you cannot use one layout for multiple challenges).
So in all honesty, I am inspired to make a hybrid piece - which I started, but I am having trouble with the glue - so I went ahead and made this digi page for now - and will be back with the hybrid should it come to a finish - (sometimes it takes me a while to get it the way I want) I also was inspired to use lots of word strips in my journaling
Most amazing inspiration. I was inspired by the fingerprint. I have been looking for fingerprints in a constantly re-developing city. I have found one in a bit of an odd place below a freeway partly built into a river.
When I look at the inspiration for this challenge - I see mostly orange and red. This leads me to the yellow and orange of our northern maples this time of year. still a great many colors within this range. Hope this is ok
I started with the image of my fingertips and the arrows around the photo, then it morphed into the layers of curved papers. I tried to create some motion, like your inspiration image has.
