“I've gone a-wandering again” she whispered to no one.
Except maybe the hummingbird who may have heard
or perhaps the ladybug basking in the sun.
Her feet grew imaginary wings and carried her
to far off places…in the nearby fields anyway.
Sometimes as far away as the twenty acre wood
on the other side of the burrow.
Someday her wandering would take her beyond
the well traveled roads and cobblestone lanes,
and open her eyes to magical kingdoms
and worlds unknown. Someday.
