Your Hairstyle

Like once a year I get a cut. Sometimes it's a big cut. Sometimes just a trim. I haven't dyed it in a year. Just money makes it hard & I also am a chronic ponytail person anyway so I can't justify more. I wish I had the mental bandwidth to style it more often since I know I'd feel better about myself if I did.

I am low maintenance when it comes to hair and makeup. I try NOT to have to style it!!
I actually just got it cut and coloured...a big thing for me. I like it at least below my shoulders so I can put it up in a bun (low maintenance!!)...but I finally gave my hairdresser the go ahead to chop it off...and she was so excited!!
I also just changed from being a rich dark black/brown and went light...I was in need of a change!! And it is still taking me a bit to get used to, but it's growing on me!!
I remember when mine grew out all white and it definitely took some getting used to the look.

Do you style your hair everyday? just a brush and I'm ready

How often do you get it cut? every 12 weeks

Have you worn your hair the same for a while? or How often do you change it up?
I have curls but I don't loke it, to much work. I wash it and style it with my hairstraightener. So much easier to handle and it stays straight for days (no rain then the curls plop in) Always had a bob, now longer but also a short one.

I tried embracing my curls when my hair grew out during the pandemic, but it turned out to be much more effort than keeping it short.

Since I decided to grow it out I just shove it into a bun at neck height every morning. I usually have it in a plait when I sleep now that it's gotten longer.
How often do you get it cut?
I get a trim every 6-8 weeks (where the hairdresser trys to talk me into a mature lady hairstyle pffft.)

I used to have my hair pretty short. It's curly so it was easy to manage but I decided I wanted to grow it long (entering my wild woman/forest witch era of menopause) so I haven't cut it in over a year. I'm really digging the silver frosting I have going on and really embracing it.

This is my inspiration! Isn't she outstanding?

definitely beautiful. I tried letting mine grow into something like this, but one side just didn't embrace the same amount of natural curl. I sometimes wish it had been easier to manage as I love this natural look, but true to my own history, every single time I grow it out, I end up cutting it short again for simplicity. Long, without a bunch of fussing, mine was more like Carol Kane in the Princess Bride :giggle .

This hit a nerve for me!

DH just went to a new barber and got a great cut and I keep telling him I am jealous and annoyed because I went to a new hairdresser for the second time and she gave me what I think of as an 'old lady's haircut'.

I went with pics of what I wanted for the first time and I was really happy, but clearly she forgot the brief second time around :eyeroll. Just a subtle difference but ... :shrug

It's difficult because there are very few options on the island where I live, and I was getting sick of losing an entire day and spending $$$ travelling on the ferry to the mainland and then on a train to my old hairdresser who was, probably unsurprisingly, both expensive and very good. :giggle.

I'm also experimenting with stopping colouring my hair because of the time and expense, so a good sharp cut is even more important to me.

Do you style your hair everyday?
Ha ha ... nope .. which is a large part of my problem. I swim in the sea every morning and I can't abide swim caps (give me a headache) so I run my fingers through it when I get up, then it gets full of salt and goes wild. If I am leaving the house for anywhere other than the beach, I'll brush it :giggle

How often do you get it cut?
I now plan to get a trim about every 8 weeks or so. Saving money and time by not getting it coloured anymore, but I may renege and get some highlights. I expected I'd be pure white by now like my mum and gran but sadly it looks like I take after my Dad who is only just going significantly grey now ... at 90!

Have you worn your hair the same for a while? or How often do you change it up?
I've had a blonde bob for several years, but living on the island and swimming every day means it usually more like a curly, brassy surfer head as seen in my profile pic. Dunno about my next move :shrug

It did take me a few times working with my current stylist -- and I would show her the pics (of my own hair) to remind her several times of what we were aiming for) -- She's really good with it now, it seems lately it has developed another odd little cowlick that we've been working around to leave certain areas a bit longer to help. She asks me each time how it worked out. But I think people pay money to get the salt water look.

Do you style your hair everyday? Just run the comb through it. When I wash my hair (every 2nd day), I just brush into shape and it dries naturally.

How often do you get it cut? Every 8 weeks for a cut and colour.

Have you worn your hair the same for a while? or How often do you change it up? I have a short bob now and no bangs. My hair is now very thin so I don't have a lot of options. I've worn it this way for the last 5 years or so.

Loving how so many of us are on the minimal styling train.

Do you style your hair everyday? Most definitely not!! I'd like to call myself all-natural, but really it's just because I don't care! I don't enjoy doing my hair, and I never think it looks any better than just down and naturally dried. I've been like that all my life.

How often do you get it cut? Rarely. Maybe every 4 or 5 months, and I don't go anywhere to get it done.

Have you worn your hair the same for a while? or How often do you change it up? I don't change it often. I believe my daughter gave me highlights about a year ago that made my hair much blonder. Just last week, she dyed it super dark brown for me. I was ready for a change. I chopped it to shoulder length myself. I'd say 50% of the time, Jennah (my daughter) cuts my hair, and the other half, I grab the scissors and hack it and then have one of my kids (all young adults) check the back for evenness. I'm just not that into it!

I've definitely hacked at mine in the past too, but I think I'm done with that other than perhaps a stray hair or a tiny snip here and there -- only because my self cuts were very bad (I think it was during COVID).

Do you style your hair every day?
Yes, I have to; otherwise it will look like this..

How often do you get it cut?
Every 8 or 9 weeks
Have you worn your hair the same for a while? Or how often do you change it up?
I change it up frequently. The colour of my hair changes the most.
