I'm back with another finish the sentence. This time it's "You can't have a party without..."
For me, it's cake- i dont know if it's an upbringing thing, but the cake or dessert is *the* important thing. One of the first books I bought after having DD (11yrs) was the Australian Women's Weekly Birthday Cake book - it's like a staple in many Aussie cooks bookshelves! I was given a slab of leftover cake from DD's grade 6 farewell after helping to take home and we will be eating leftover cake for about a week by the looks. I always 'over-cater' cake myself as well (or serve too much other food!) but looking back i've never had to say to anyone 'sorry we've run out of cake!'

We are not big dessert people, but would be happy with cookies... and there must be dessert. I agree with Tracie, no dessert is a bit strange, lol!
