I was thinking about all the computers I've had over the years, and one of them I received as a prize from a sweepstakes in 1997! I was really into entering sweepstakes for a while in the mid-90s. I won all sorts of little prizes, but this was the highest value prize I ever won. The computer was touted as a gaming computer and I wish I still had the specs. It was a national sweepstakes, but the computer was actually built by a company in the small town I was living in at the time, Coos Bay, Oregon. The company was called Falcon NW and the computer was the Mach IV or something like that. I remember being SUPER nervous about it, like I wasn't worthy of such a wonderful machine and that I would somehow mess it up! It had an amazing sound system, huge monitor, and lots of power for the time. By the time I had gotten into digiscrapping, it was long gone, but thinking about that made me wonder....

Have you ever won a non-scrapbooking contest?

I've won a few small photography contests here and there. Nothing with any major sort of prize money but still a source of pride for me.

I won a food gift card for a poetry contest in college. I also used to win stuff by calling in to radio stations. I still wear the Twizzlers shirt I won and use the matching beach towels. My little sister wins stuff on Instagram a lot.

When I was in highschool I won a vinyl record by David Hasselhoff (signed by him too) by phoning in to the radio
I won a huge chocolate cake at my son's school fundraiser. Also won a stereo in a crossword contest in a newspaper... that one was a true surprise when it arrived... I had to figure out what I had entered to win... hehehe. Oh and there were theater tickets too for a kiddies show.

Seems like I won quite a few things over the years.... nevermind the tons of scrapping things I won while paper scrapping and now lucky draws for digi scrapping.... you have to be in it to win it!

I've won a couple poetry contests and actually I'm published jn a few booms
Also photo contests a few photos on jc penny photo studio walls and website

I won a plastic pumpkin full of gummy candies at a candy store once :giggle. And I won $1000 in a radio call-in back in the day

I won a food hamper from a local reduced to clear food store - they sell a variety of food which is sold close to best before dates at reduced prices but you never know exactly what you might find or if you'll see the same things again.
In high school, I won the cost of about 2/3rds of my school uniform paid for just for paying my first years school fees/donation early.

I've also won countless bits for my digital scrapping hobby - two come to mind, one was at a scrapbooking crop weekend....I won a subscription to Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine (I think that was it's original name). I was the first overseas subscriber too. I'm pretty sure I also won my copy of ACDSee Photo Manager too.

Hmmmm
I won a necklace at a street fair a couple of years ago, but I guess the best thing I've won was Teacher of the Year for my school and my county a couple of years ago. No real prize other than a plaque, but it was a nice honor.

I have a friend who wins concert tickets all the time by calling the radio station! I have a beach towel I won from a local store back in the early 2000s...I still use it...it's lavender, and I love it!

You are a winner for sure! We always used to say that in the sweepstakes world...you have to be in it to win it!

I think I got in a poetry book in high school! I love that we have that in common! Love that we have a couple of photog winners here, too!

I love PRACTICAL wins like food and I know people who've won a year's worth of private school tuition, so things like that really come in handy. I miss magazines! I suppose they still make them, but we have countless galleries and tutorials online, so I don't seek them out.

That's an amazing honor! You should be so proud! I have some beautiful crystal awards from when I worked for Royal Caribbean. One was the Circle of Excellence which I won in 2020. It was a company-wide award that came with cash and 7 days off and a cruise, which I did not get to take because...COVID (and then quitting there in 2022!)

Gosh... the only thing I can think of is winning tickets for a concert on the radio once. Oh and I won a patio set at our company picnic once. That was pretty awesome and we still use the patio set.

My most memorable winnings are in the early days of the Clickinmoms (now Click) Scavenger Hunt, back when it was more interesting and complicated, you had to include their special sign in the photo, and the prizes were awesome. I won in 2012 and a year or two later. Each winner (there were like 10 each year) got to pick from prize packages that included Clickinmoms merch, classes, camera gear, and photo products. The huge wood print of my kids jumping in the Pacific Ocean still hangs over my fireplace to this day. My favorite prize, because I'm practical, was registration in one of their classes. I also got a couple of albums that were nicer than I usually order.
