My computer has been trying to update for a couple of days without being able to complete the update.... no biggie.
Woke up this morning eager to get to the challenges, and my desktop had changed, smaller icons, and things in the toolbar like the snipping tool missing, told me to configure printing settings....still no biggie.....
Opened PhotoShop, made a new document ,clicked open file to access my photos, and BAMMMM heart attack ready and waiting ALL my photo folders were gone, so were my documents, and I couldn't access my downloads.... Major panic attack ! :hissy :hummm :badputer
I did a system restore, and they came back, pheww..... but so did the message that windows hasn't been able to complete update so now I am scared it will happen again ,and I might not be so lucky next time.
Any calming advice ? anyone please....

my update last night was a nightmare, my puter wouldn't open this morning,a nd when it did, my browser wouldn't recognize anything. I rebooted and everything went back where it is supposed to be?

Next time ( Please let there not be a next time ! ) I will try rebooting first....

My Windows 10 updated earlier this week & everything's been slow ever since. The Edge browser stops a lot. I'm guessing there will be another update soon to fix that update, it's usually the case.

I don't really use the start menu much, but since my last "update" for Windows ten, I get an intermittent critical error if I accidentally try to load the start menu. One time it will work like a little surprise, the next time it errors. I'm waiting about three months for Microsoft to release the update that fixes it...

I still have windows XP. I hate the new windows look and have refused to buy the new one when I'm happy with this one.

That would freak me out too! I've never had that happen. Other than making sure you have a backup, I don't know!

I'm with Kellie. I have Windows 8 and I REFUSE to even touch Windows 10!!

Windows 7 girl here, I have no interest in upgrading either....on a semi-related note, my computer was super slow & acting wonky this morning, so I finally re-booted it. Later I went to open the layout I started yesterday & Photoshop said it couldn't be opened because it wasn't compatible with my current version of Photoshop - which of course, is the exact same version I created it with in the first place! Luckily I only had three layers & was able to re-create it quickly, it was just weird.

I just updated my old laptop last night (not on purpose: I had to shut it down and it already had a stupid update ready and waiting. :( Now you have me worried to turn it back on! It has Windows 8. My new laptop (Win 10) hasn't had any major issues besides randomly turning off my wi fi and/or turning off my keyboard if I plug in a mouse...I'm pretty sure those are issues related to the commputer and not Win 10, though. ;)

I'm still holding off on the Windows 10 upgrade until they work out more of the kinks first. So sorry that you're having so many problems with it.

my puter came with win 8 (when lost hp with win 7), i think windows 10 is alot better

There was a Windows 10 patch that did wonders to my husband's computer, he had to uninstall it. So far I'm still running with the patch, but I may end up uninstalling it. I'm not a huge fan of 10.

I have Windows 10 and haven't really had any problems with it at all, but now I'm scared lol

I have not even touched the Windows 10 update. Too nervous. I have all of my photo editing and gaming software working just fine on Windows 7.

i just read that Microsoft stopped support for anything under 8.1. I might have read wrong

They are only supporting 10 for new hardware, but still supporting 7 and 8 for old hardware, which includes pretty much anything any of us would already own today. So unless you're buying a new computer and you don't want 10 on it, I don't think you have to worry about it.
