Thank you! What do you think is the best way to blend into a background paper? I put the photo on top of a plain white textured paper and blending mode: multiply. That has covered up a lot of the graininess but I wondered if there was a better way.
Gosh, I don't think that there is just one way of doing this. I've used subtle pattered papers, watercolor painted papers, different papers that just catch my attention. And I don't usually stick with one blend mode option. I'll just click thru the blend modes, see which I prefer. Sometimes I'm pleasantly surprised, sometimes I just say "no way" and select another paper or another approach. I've been known stack multiple papers, changing one or all of their blend modes & then adding my photo (with a blend mode). Sometimes my paper is on top, sometimes my photo is on top. I'm a real hacker, I guess... The main thing to take away from all of this is to play and have fun with it. And then of course there are lots of different photo techniques you can try aside from blending, many of them are in the Learning Pad forum. https://the-lilypad.com/forum/forum/learning-pad.351/
I'm a little behind on commenting, but getting caught up this evening. @IntenseMagic thank you so much for highlighting one of my layouts and your kind comments. I love photography! Its what got me scrapbooking. I wanted to do something more with my pictures. I find the big picture format to be quite inspirational. What amazing layouts are posted in this thread.
I absolutely love this technique and use it quite often and as Lynn does primarily on travel pages. Here are some of mine:
Totally what Marilyn said There are so many ways to do it and like she said, there are several posts with different variations in The Learning Pad. Play and experiment
One tip I just thought of on my own when I'm shooting pictures now that I think would make good backgrounds, I put my iPhone on "square shooting". Then I don't have to manipulate the picture from oblong to fit my square background.
