Spent a good chunk of the day clearing out some Nolan's toys. He is the first grandson on both sides, so spoiled to say the least! We also spoil him, being an only child. So we got rid of two big bags of toys! Still too many left. Hard to get rid of because they feel "special". At least the bins are dusted/vacuumed and stuff is organized. Next step is to by a few shelves so that I can get our book problem in order. I want my coffee table back. It's overflowing with books! Any one else!?
I wish I had, but I have been a potato on this winter break. I did clean up/back up/organize my computer for the new year...a little bit LOL It really is hard to get rid of some of our children's things! You could always take a photo of it before you get rid of it and scrap about what made it so special!
My husband & I spent 4 hours today working on our master closet. Not completely gone through, but definitely measurable improvement!
DH went through our old pantry (which is now our oldest's closet) and cleaned out all the really (really!) old stuff. We also took down our Christmas tree today (does that count?).
I took down Christmas stuff and organized my bins some. I still have winter decorations out that will stay out until Easter…not sure I will have room to put it away but that is a problem for future Shannon. I went through the clothes in the closet when I was putting my laundry away. Tomorrow I will go through my cross stitch cabinet. I have a new one coming from my mother-in-law and the current cabinet will become storage for the toys Kasey needs supervision to play with…like playdough.
I did some digi scrap supplies shuffling around. My daughter recently moved home and so we have all.the.things. from her apartment and DS2's stuff from when he was living solo. Duplicates of crockery, towels, kitchen and cleaning supplies. I would love to declutter. But we don't know that they won't need their stuff at a future date. Thankfully we have a room upstairs that we can dedicate to storage. But I would love to simplify.
I had to do that last month - my hard drive got full. I now have an external drive that has all my older stuff on so I could make room for the new stuff. I couldn't delete the old stuff - I might still want to use it.
@Angela Toucan I got a new computer a couple of months ago and so now have 2x 2 terabyte hard drives so I have a lot of space. And a lot of digi supplies and photos.
I reorganize pretty regularly - recently did under my sink where I bought some pull out shelves. Very satisfying to not just have a bunch of bottles ns sponges spilling out when you open the door.
I have the same ”problem” with kids that have been moving back after a couple of years studying in another city. Our basement is filled with boxes and furniture.
My daughter moved back in recently and we’ve had to shuffle a bunch of things around but we don’t have basements here in Az so she had to rent a storage locker for her furniture. Kind of a bummer to pay for that but it does help me to maintain some relatively uncluttered sanity.
I'm on a journey to declutter my home. I have had a goal to do so several years but have made minimal progress. This year I am aiming for at least a 15 min declutter daily. I have started in my office. Today I will assemble a new bookcase to home many of the things that currently rest on the floor since they don't have a home.
We have spent last few days sorting out the house and organising. Our spare room had turned into a dumping group for clutter so that got sorted first. I have also spent today sorting out my digital files and backing them up online, and deleting anything I no longer need.
I have tons of stuff to organize. For now I'm organizing my to do lists. I have to organize my storage space that I rented after downsizing from a huge apartment to a small studio. That's lots of work. I also have to organize everything on my computer from digi files, to photos, to random stuff I save. My whole life is an everyday organization ritual. But I love being organized. When I'm not, I don't feel good.
I'm not currently organizing anything, but I'm happy to report that I moved my home office into another room in my house over Thanksgiving week, and the week before Christmas I moved a few hundred items out of my Downloads folder to where they belong (mostly digiscrap kits from TLP).
Definitely not as much as I should have over my long Christmas break. I did take down all the Christmas stuff and put that all away so I feel like that cleaned up a ton of cluttered space. I love decorating, but I also really love putting it all away again too. I cleaned up a little bit in my craft room today too which is always nice too... then I made a few more messes. Whoops!
