...do you watch over and over? And why? This year, I watched Disney's Encanto. Then watched it at least five more times. In addition to be drawn to the protagonist, Mirabel, the rich colors and scenery loaded with flowers pulls me in. Not to mention the songs. Even as an adult, I am a huge fan of animation, mostly Disney and Pixar. I am blown away at how imaginative and talented people are. Next, the Harry Potter series. I lost count how many times I've watched these movies. Thursday night, we watched #3 again - The Prisoner of Azkaban - because, when I pulled corn muffins out of the oven, my glasses fogged up really, really bad...and my husband said I looked like Professor Trelawney. So how about you...got any long standing favorites? Or new to you movies that you are now hooked on?
We've been watching Stranger Things over and over. We just watched all the seasons from start to finish during our morning workouts. Once upon a time I watched 17 Again over and over and over because Zac Efron haha We also like rewatching the Harry Potter series.
One movie that I always had to watch when it came on TV was "Palm Springs Weekend", a movie from the 60's with Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello. Actually any movie that had those 2 in it were watched over and over. A more recent (well, 90's) movie that I will watch over and over is "Backdraft". And, I cry every time even though I know how it ends. And, in the days before the internet and streaming, I loved it when stations would run movie marathons during the holidays. Can't tell you how many times I watched the early James Bond movies over New Year's. Seems like TBS ran them every year! Mom would even come in to my sitting room and watch them with me when she got tired of Dad screaming at the TV for the football games. So that was in the early 90's.
There aren't many movies I re-watch but a few faves are Grease, Saturday Night Fever, Night at the Roxbury, Titanic and some of the Xmas movies like Elf, A Christmas Story, National Lampoons Xmas Vacation, Love Actually and It's a Wonderful Life.
We watch A Christmas Story every year too @bcgal00. My daughter says it’s just a movie people of a certain generation (insert old) like. We love the mix of silliness and nostalgia. I like Princess Bride and Fried Green Tomatoes, and The Hunt for Red October too.
Got any long standing favorites? Oh yes, so many faves! Grease, Grease 2, Meet Me In St. Louis, A Christmas Story, Home Alone movie series, Elf, Muriel's Wedding, Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, Pretty In Pink, Back To The Future, Working Girl, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, The Goonies, Top Gun, Dirty Dancing, The Princess Bride, Indiana Jones movie series, Footloose, The Outsiders, 9 to 5, Titanic, Edward Scissorhands, Babe, Jurassic Park movie series, Romy and Michele's High School Reunion, The Truman Show, The Sandlot, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Fargo, Pretty Woman, The Fifth Element, Groundhog Day, Forrest Gump, The Matrix movie series, Matilda, Twilight movie series, Mamma Mia!, Love Actually, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Black Hawk Down, Pirates of the Caribbean movie series, Ocean's Eleven, Napoleon Dynamite, Mean Girls, The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit movie series, Or new to you movies that you are now hooked on? It's been a long time since I've found a newer release movie that I want to watch over and over again. Most of the new ones I've seen were good, even great, but nothing that I felt like I wanted to watch on repeat.
I have hardly watched any movies in several years, let alone repeated any of them. I think the movies I probably watched the most were the Harry Potter ones (between 2007 and about 2013, I no longer have interest in them), and Titanic, which I watched 4 times in the theater when it originally came out, plus a couple more times in later years on DVD. Oh! The best movie I've watched multiple times and still enjoy is Clue. It has been sort of a family tradition for the last decade to watch it on Halloween. I can't think of any others I've watched more than twice. Earlier this year my husband and I watched L.A. Story and The Truman Show again, reminiscing about movies we enjoyed in the 1990's. I rarely choose to watch movies anymore and haven't gone to the theater since before the pandemic. I do watch a lot of shows on YouTube though, so it's not like I'm avoiding the screen. I just prefer my 27 inch iMac screen.
when i played farmville i done corner up for karen did you see heather had words from movie https://the-lilypad.com/store/Christmas-Movie-Quotes-FG.html
Oh god, what movies don't I watch over and over would be a better question. lol I have a TON of favorites and Disney & Pixar are at the top of the list along with soooo many others but I'll just name a few here Love Jones Love & Basketball Brown Sugar Sweet Home Alabama Big Fish I love a ton of the 80's cult classics. Pretty in Pink Sixteen Candles Breakfast Club and sooo many more.....
Ha! While I don't watch movies on a computer, we stream from the TV. Theaters are a thing of the past for us...but with some app subscriptions (HBO Max for example) one can rent or purchase IN the Theater movies. I'd rather be in the comfort and quite of my own home than a theater. So I totally get streaming!
I've watched the Harry Potter moves a bunch of times too because I could usually get my boys to sit down and watch those with me. I've also watched the Bourne Identity movies a bunch. I just get sucked it! The Day After Tomorrow is another good one and Ever After (Cinderella story with Drew Barrymore).
"Dirty Dancing" - I can't tell you how many times I/we have watched that. "Pretty Woman" - my dd's know every line from that movie. We have "favorite lines" that we still say to each other "Ohhhhh, the pressure of a name". If you know the movie - 'nuff said Hahaha. Also "As Good As It Gets" - again, know all the lines. I don't think there's one episode of The Golden Girls that we haven't seen either. Again, we quote lines from that a lot.
The Harry Potter series for me. I just "discovered" Harry and the gang last year and I'm enthralled. I love all of it. The other one recently is Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day. It has a stellar cast and is just downright fun. It's my feel-good movie. Other than that, the original Mary Poppins. It was the first movie I ever saw in a theater, way back when I was four or five years old. It made a huge impression on me and I love it to this day. I'm sure there are others, but this is what I've been watching lately.
Pride and Prejudice BBC version (really any Jane Austen movie). We just watched Sense and Sensibility the other night for the umpteenth time. Princess Bride The Narnia Movies The Importance of Being Earnest Dan in Real Life Inception At Christmas: Elf, It's a Wonderful Life, Nativity Story TV Shows: Doctor Who Little House on the Prairie
