Which layout file(s) do you keep?

I have the original size layout in .psd(3600x3600), the high size layout in .jpg(3600x3600), and the web layout in .jpg (600x600). On my EHD all my layout files are saved I ever did...

Amy,
do you rename every layer with the credits???!!!

i do

None :hide the tiff's in dvd's and the jpg's on two pendrives and of course in dvd's... the last time I had to format the computer :whoopdedoo I decided that nothing would be there

OMG! I just put all the credits into the File Info as I go along. Or if it's just a few credits I do it only in the galleries.

I keep my psd files just in case I notice a mistake one day and want to fix it, and also I sometimes make templates, extracted photos and other things within my layouts and I might one day go back and grab it for another LO. I should just save those things separately at the beginning but rarely do!

I just keep my small jpegs.. I keep everything digital and I never print off. So thats honestly all I need.

yeah i have a psd file and a websize version, i think i have only printed a handful

I keep the psd files and purge all the jpgs. I figure I can create another jpg easily if I ever need it. And after my experience with printing pages, there are quite a few that I need to go back to and change a bit, like add the date or something. I could never purge my layered files!

I keep the psd and the small jpg...when I want to print a page I simply use the psd, create my high res jpg file and delete it after printing. I don't have all of them on my computer...I burn them on DVDs

I keep my layered tiffs, a web sized jpeg and a notepad file with my credits in. I've only just started printing and I am SO grateful I kept all the layered files from earlier layouts so I can change the shocking shadows before I print them! :giggle

At the moment I'm keeping my layered files and jpegs for print. I'm intending to get some printed soon (but I've been saying that for a while, lol!) and at that point I'll probably just put the layered files onto my ehd (the backup is less frequent off that) and just keep the jpegs.

I just can't let go of them. Not sure why because when I'm checking layouts to print I either leave them or start again most of them time. Although it is good to be able to correct typos. And font as dh complains that he can't read most of them I've done with pea fonts.

I keep only the layered file. I have a "to print" folder where I have the flattened jpgs, but once I upload those to print I delete the folder. I figure if I ever need to reprint anything, I can always re-do the jpg version.

yep. that's me.

Ok, here's my routine. Once I create a LO and save it in psd, jpg and web version, I keep them all until:

1. I upload to online galleries - once I do that, I delete the web versions.

2. Once I print which is once a month - I delete the psd.

So, the only thing I keep forever is the jpg for re-printing if ever needed.

I keep everything...but I need to convert to tiff and delete the psd's. I might go with Julies way....I like it! lol

I keep a flattened full res version sharpened for print and a web version.
