Just curious as to what files you keep ("forever") on your computer when it comes to digital layouts...?:compcoffee

So far I have saved everything: PSD file, full size JPG file and web-sized JPG file. But after looking at a layout which I made earlier today when the full-size JPG file was 5 MB and the PSD was 90 MB (!!!:groan) ....it's made me think that I use an awful lot of hard drive space on this and maybe I need to re-think what I keep a bit...LOL!

Just curious what you all do...?

I keep the full jpeg, full psd, and small jpg...PLUS I keep all the work in progress psd's for a few months too...just in case!
Every now and then I get rid of all the old WIP ones, and I might start saving the older LOs as tiffs to save some space too.

i save a large tiff and small jpeg-the tiff doesnt seem as large as the psd and i gives a preview-every week or 2 i move them to my extranal hard drive

I keep all three as well but the PSD and full size Jpeg get moved to the EHD after printing. I might have to rethink this method down the road but for now, I still have plenty of space.

I keep everything for about 3 months. After that I purge all files except a flattened 8 X 8 jpg that I use to print.

I only keep a print size flattened 12x12 JPEG and a web-version. I used to keep a PSD but finally decided to streamline. :)

I keep only the layered file. I have a "to print" folder where I have the flattened jpgs, but once I upload those to print I delete the folder. I figure if I ever need to reprint anything, I can always re-do the jpg version.

i keep my layered file (mainly because of the credit layer) and the for print jpg at 12x12 even though i print at 8x8

I keep everything too. But I've been contemplating a purge because of the sheer amount of space everything takes.

I keep my PSD file until I print and am happy with it, then I delete everything except the flattened jpeg.

Just out of curiousity, I saw that Amy keeps hers for the credit layer, but why do the rest of you keep yours? I am just wondering if I am missing something and am going to be sorry someday. LOL As far as credits, I figure my online galleries have those and so I can always refer to those.

Becky, I keep mine simply because if I ever DO need to reprint, there's a decent chance I'll want to change something. Just my personality! LOL!

I delete my web files every month of so, once I've uploaded them I should technically no longer need them, and if by chance I do I can always resave for web. I eventually delete my PSD files, but ONLY after I know they are printed and that I am happy with them. I keep my full JPGs forever - I have them on my harddrive and I also burn them to DVDs and keep them at my mom's house in case we ever had a fire or anything.

I only keep the .psd I move my .jpg to my print site and delete them after that and if i ever need a web version i can just save it from my gallery LOL

i want to convert all of my psd's to tiffs and then keep only my jpegs for printing but as of now i have my psd's and my saved for web jpeg's.
