Been scrapping like mad these last few days to catch up with challenges, and it got me thinking - I have absolutely no common thread with my layouts. I'm all over the place - pocket pages, c&s, graphic, artsy, whatever. If I were to print books it would be hilarious! Do you have a specific style and keep to it? I know of some artists that I can immediately tell who made the layout when I see it. I'm must a messy ADHD brain roaming free at 2653 m/h .....
There are definitely some scrappers here that I immediately recognize their amazing pages (@SeattleSheri and @EllenT come to mind). I think I might be one of the few people here who does planner pages and memory planner pages so if they are those pages, I suppose they all have a similar "style" since I start with the same format. But, for just off-the-cuff scrapbook pages, I am more like you in that I'm all over the place.
I'd like to say clean & simple with an artsy edge but truthfully it's whatever style works for that layout. For me I tend to experiment a fair bit, sometimes it works/I like it & other times thank goodness for CTRL+Z! Like you have all mentioned, I also find I recognize scrappers work easily as well, @*sylvia* is one I can recognize instantly
Depends on what I'm doing. The 2 styles that I don't do though are pocket pages and mixed media. When I first started digi scrapping and found SWL templates, they were so much like my paper scrapping that I ended up loving them. Been a fan for a long time. So in the beginning more clean & simple but with multiple photos (have a hard time scrapping one small photo on a page). Then I learned how to cluster from FDD templates. So now I like to add small clusters to those clean & simple pages. I admire the layouts with lots of clusters but seldom make any myself. So basically I do layouts that highlight my photos using paper layers and small clusters.
I have an eclectic style with grunge, mixed media, stamping, lots of clustering and I fill up the page a lot more than I used to but I also like clean designs with white space, so mix things up. I used to hate templates but grew to love them.
I would say I'm a clean scrapper with a little extra at times. I occasionally am heavy handed with paint/layers/blend modes, but it usually ends up as a clean painted page, lol! I think two of my favorite layouts are mostly paint and a photo - with like 3 elements.
I am all over the place also! I just do whatever my mood strikes while I scrap. Sometimes I find myself liking a certain way I did a page and my next few pages end up being similar. Or I will use a certain type of element over and over again. Like thread or something.
Well, 100% of my layouts are in rectangular format. That is pretty identifying. I tend toward artsy, art journal pages, and fill the page. But can also do minimalist, those are a bit harder for me.
I find pocket style layouts quite easy to create and love to break the boundaries of them. I tend to create multi-photo layouts and usually my photos have a white stroke added to them. I like the more traditional paper look, but also enjoy playing with paints and artsy layers. I seldom create photoless pages, but have on occasion. I almost always create a floral cluster or two.
I'm like you @tanteva in that my layouts hit on all different styles. That really stems from all the challenges I've done throughout the years, but I actually really like the variety and the printed book is just that much more fun! I actually try to avoid having facing pages match styles unless they are related. Like, if one side is a pocket page, the other might be clean and simple or something!
I'm all over the place depending on my mood.. but normally I like messy. I love love me some paints and color
When I'm doing challenges, I try to scrapbook differently than normal as a "break" from my regular style. When I'm not doing challenges, I tend to scrap multi-photo, clean lines, big shadows on a few things to emphasize, and context journaling. My daughter loves nothing more than seeing pictures of herself. I use scrapbook pages to get her to read and learn about time (beginning, middle, end.... before, after). So, lots of pictures of her and lots of journaling about her. Sneaky mom, double duty.
I'm eclectic and have changed over the years. Nowadays the important thing to me is making sure I print some photos. And I've been more attracted to paint and stamps I can splash all over the page and less attracted to stuff you'd find on paper pages like ribbons and frames. I've never cared much for flowers, especially big ones, nor other big 3D stuff.
I've dabbled in lots of different styles over the years and still mix and match all over the place, but I definitely lean towards messy and full pages most of the time. I want to use ALL the photos.
I like to scrap as to my mood.. if I am being creative it is more artsy. I can also clean scrap. I think most peoples pages are identifiable. It may also be an identifying factor by the fonts you choose to use
I am all over the place. The only thing I don't do often is white space layouts (even though I am hosting the Style Challenge this month and it's "white space"). One thing I am kind of consistent on is that my photo pages usually have patterned or artsy paper backgrounds as opposed to solids.
I'm a story teller scrapper. The story (my journaling) is as important to me as the photos. Having said that, I'm one who likes to keep the focus on those two things. I like neutrals as backgrounds and few elements -- just enough to add a touch of color and interest without detracting from the story. There are times this manifests itself in a pocket page and TLP challenges often have requirement that make us clean and simple gals cringe!! (You know who you are pollys who host the challenges) But occasionally I like to do an artsy page or a whimsical one just for the fun of it.
