What's your dream CT?

Just a little insight into the designer's perspective... I've invited people to my team because I love their scrapping style. They usually accept, but then might move on quickly to another team as soon as the opportunity arises. Maybe they didn't really want to be on my team but didn't have the heart to let me down... Honestly, it leaves me feeling like a stepping stone to a more desired team, and constantly in the need to renew and build my staff. I still do invite people on, but I've been burnt a few times, so I prefer when someone contacts me directly because they really want to be on MY team. I like building long-term relationships. Whenever a CT leaves my team I can't help but wonder why.

I'm not a huge fan of CT calls either, but I do run them once in a while. I let people know when I love their layouts. ;)

thank you for that. I've often wondered about what goes through designers minds in that respect.

Thanks for the insight. I never would have thought of that. I just presumed that when people said yes, they did it wholeheartedly like joelsgirl have with Allison Pennington. However I am also still surprised when I realize some people only CT because of the free products. As an artist I feel like that's a little bit like selling your creativity. I am all for being on store ct's if it's a store I as a general want to support and help thrive (such as TLP) even though it means not always using products of your usually style but being on lots of different designers teams just for the free products I'll never understand.

I don't recall ever seeing a ct call from you, not even back in the Catscrap days but I guess I wasn't paying much attention between that place and here. I was thrilled to see your name here when I first stumbled upon the store.

Allison Pennington invited me to join her team a couple of months ago, and I feel like a kid in a candy store everytime I browse through there looking for something to scrap with.

I love love love her stuff, and I think that being associated with someone so pretty & cool makes me cooler and prettier. ; )

I am living the dream.

Ha. LOL.... I've only ever had one call and I was traumatized. It's been years since (I wasn't even at TLP yet - that's how long ago!) and I have a few wonderful ladies from that call still. All the rest either approached me or were approached by me and it's been wonderful. I've got a crazy full (for me - I try to keep a smaller team) team right now but I'm always watching. ;)

And I can tell that (for me anyways) I did not know a single lady I chose during that call at all.

I came to TLP because I followed Michelle Godin Designs - I've been on her CT since Day 1 at another site and I've been following her ever since. I don't think I gave her much of a choice in the matter. :) I'm more behind the scenes for her now than I was, but I still use mostly her stuff.

I spend a lot of cash here at TLP. Love every single designer here.

Dream CT: to become a Polly... but love Amy Martin's & Sara Gleason's templates. I start every single layout I do with a template - sometimes they don't resemble the template I started with at all by the time I'm done. I also just adore Kate Hadfield's doodles... I was lucky enough to guest for her about 2 years ago.

Oh.my.goodness. I can not believe this. You have such wonderful stuffs, I can't imagine you having troubles getting a good team! Hugs girl. I'm so glad you have a great team now. Hopefully you won't ever have to go through that again!

^ this is me, too. I realize it's probably irrational, but the whole time I was thinking to myself that I couldn't take everyone, so all I was going to do was leave a big chunk of my fan base angry and/or hurt. I've never been able to do it again. Luckily I haven't had much turnover, and I've added a few people here and there to represent styles that I feel are under-represented on my team. I don't know how other designers manage to hold regular (even annual) CT calls without curling up in the fetal position in a closet somewhere, begging for their mothers.

This made me a little sad because I would hate for any designer to feel like a stepping stone. Personally, I wouldn't be able to commit to a team that I can't give my best, or to a designer that I didn't absolutely love and adore their work. I can see how it could happen, but it's still sad.

Funny how both sides have reservations :giggle Apparently we are all afraid of rejection :hug

Who would reject YOU? your designers are awesome!! I totally love it!!

I am soooo very blessed!!!

and I echo the designers, ct calls stress me out... and it is sooooo hard to say no when approached by a designer, but I also know that they totally understand and appreciate the honesty

ooh, boo on that. if they are a true fan, a rejection to be on your team shouldn't make them angry. just like I said to Lynne-Marie... your products are wonderful, I can't imagine you having troubles getting/keeping a good team!

Of course I'd love to be a Polly some day :heartlub

I just feel grateful that I get to CT for the designers I already do! I remember I applied for the Sahlin Studio call last may and didn't make it... She's one of my dream designers, I can't tell you how much I love using the Project Mouse kits so when she asked me to join her team last fall, I can tell you I just about fell out of my chair!

I love Jaimee's stuff too, I actually stumbled across her stuff shortly before her CT call and didn't think I'd be picked for her team but golly, I can't believe I get to play with all of her stuff, especially since I've just found out this month how much I love paint and AJ!

I love my designers and their stuff, it really IS like wandering in a candy store! Heck, browsing the entire TLP store is like being in the best candy store ever! :heartlub

If I had to choose just a few designers I'd love to join, it would probably be Kate Hadfield, Paislee Press, Splendid Fiins and Valorie Wibbins... It's so hard to choose because I love so many different designs :giggle

I'm just glad all the designers keep making amazing products and that they are just so real and down to earth! :heartlub

Oooh, that's tough. I am completely head over heels in love with my designers (One Little Bird/Peppermint, Sara Gleason, and creashens). They have been so amazing to work with and have been so understanding when I had to take a step back for awhile. Plus they crank out the most awesome shtuffs.

I love Amy Martin's templates, and I'd love to create for her. I'd also love to CT for someone that would super challenge me and my mostly-minimal/neutral style - CD Muckosky or Allison Pennington.

I'm with Heather so blessed for the teams I'm on now! The Polly gig would be another blessing!
I honestly think like the designers, it stresses me out and I don't know how to take rejection, plus I'm like duhhh what do I say.... when they have a ct call.

Oh I would love to be on everyones CT, but that's due to me being greedy and loving all the designs.....hehe

runs and hides incase someone tells me off :peekin

Love the ladies I am blessed somehow to CT for, and encourage all y'all to always apply to a designers call if that designer is one of your favorites. Don't let self-doubt stand in your way. Struggle for me has always been health and family time balance with fun scrap time. You want so much to do a good job for your designers, and with their incredible products, plus spending time in the forums is fun! There are many more designers here whose good stuff I love - fantastic Sara Gleason, Pink Reptile Designs (that rolled paper? Kills me), incomparable Peppermint, felt queen Kaye Winiecki, - and it might just break my heart should one of them have a CT call, because I know I cannot commit the time to do my best but would love to CT.

I've been thrilled with the designers I currently CT for and would love to also CT for peppermint. Of course the best opportunity would be to become a poly!

Dream CT? Are you kidding? Being a POLLY! I have even considered changing my name to Polly just so I can pretend!

I'm lucky to be on Valorie team but would love one day to join Cd Muckosky, Peppermint and Paislee, too. Lately I have used some kits from Sahlin Studio and Laurie Ann and I had so much fun. I'd love to stay as a Polly but know it's impossible :(
