What's the temp in your house?

Brrr... you people are giving my the ch-ch-ch-chills. :) I try to be sensible with the heat and think of our budget, but once I'm cold I start shivering uncontrollably. We turn the thermostat down at night... usually around 72, during the cold months. We only have a few cold months here in Texas, and since we are used to the heat, we gotta keep it warm. I can't handle much colder because then all of the savings in energy are wasted trying to warm up the house. During the day it varies from 72-74 and that is still on the chilly side for me. I generally am wrapped in a fuzzy blanket and tend to stay layered.

I'm with you, Trista! All these replies are making me COLD! We keep ours on 72 year round. I am usually still under a blanket if I'm not up moving around, lol! I've never thought about turning it down at night, but the girls room always seem extra cold, so I don't think I'd want to make them colder! We have budget billing, so we pay around $200 a month year round.

Usually 67 during the day when we're not home. I usually put it up to 70 if I'm alone and start to get cold. But anything above 71 is just too hot in our house. My parents freeze when they come over because they have a woodstove and the house is usually about 78... Waaaaay too hot! lol!

68 while we are home, and 65 while gone (in Winter) in Summer 76 when home, 80 when gone.

Cold.

The thermostat is set at like 60 to save electricity. The only warm spot in our house is by the pellet stove (which is where I'm at now). The warmest room is my grandma's room... where it's legit 80 degrees because she has a kerosene heater. I can't stand going in there because it's like a sauna.

71 Pretty much year round but we live in Florida and the house is well insulated so even with the few cold days we get here we hardly ever need the heater ;)

I'm a native Floridian so my perception of cold is skewed, I know. I have HUGE cathedral ceilings so I can't afford to keep the house at the temperatures that I would like. I set the thermostat at 78 or 79 in the summer (which is pretty much all year except January ;) and at 72 in the winter. Any higher or lower the power bill is out of control.

Our thermostat is set at 70 during the day and down to 65 at 10 pm. It is a little cold during the day (for my taste), but at night I crank an electric blanket to high. I bought a twin-size for the king bed so it is just on my side because my hubby is always warm. He uses one blanket, and I have six with the electric blanket. Lately, I turn it down before I go to sleep, but it has to be warm when I get in. I'm always soooo cold. It is always crazy going to my grandma's house because her heat is cranked all day and it has to be between 85-90 in there. We have to layer when we go to visit because once you are there for awhile, you'll just die in there from the heat.

It's winter & we heat with only a wood stove (screw THE MAN) so if you aren't in the living room, it gets pretty cool. Thankfully we sleep better in the cold.

It is currently 43'C here. We are in the middle of a heat wave. What I would give to be where it snows right now. Sorry if your not a fan of the groundhog.

Ours stays between 67-70....day/night...all the time.

Before we bought this house, we had our thermostat programmed for different times of the day so it was lower at night. But....since hubby accidentally threw away a BRAND NEW thermostat a few months after we moved in here, we just keep it the same. We have an old school thermostat...not digital!! The good one would be in the landfill. :(

I keep it pretty cold, usually 68ish, but we have had an issue this year in our apartment, it's a dual level one bedroom but the heat rises obviously and this year the upstairs has been 75+ and the downstairs hits as low as 60.

We just bought a house and it has a upper and lower thermostat so I hope that problem gets better there.
