As women we tend to neglect our needs and focus on the needs of those around us instead. This can lead to burn out and be detrimental to our health (speaking from experience here). What's the nicest thing you've done for yourself this week?
I turned off my phone and filled the jetted tub with warm water and bubbles and setup my ipad on the side of the tub deck so I could relax and watch a show on netflix. It was wonderful and even though I missed some texts, my family figured it out for themselves and the world didn't fall apart without me...
On Saturday, I treated myself to an outdoor walk through nearby Tohono Chul Park (with no grand baby in tow). Today, I went for the early morning yoga in the same park. It's so lovely there and I need to be inspired for ideas to bring to my backyard.
I bought myself a new Ott Light for my desk. My old one died, and I tried to find a replacement bulb, but it was so old they don't make them anymore. My new one is very slim and hardly takes up any space on my desk. I didn't realize how much difference it would make on my eye strain. It's right over my computer and has several different adjustments on it.
I slept in... took a whole me day where I did nothing but relax and do nothing all day to clear my mind and not stress about one darn thing...
Oooh this is a further nudge for me...I have been thinking about getting an Ott light for some time now.
We just got back from vacation a week ago and I've been taking it easy with my kids and living on home vacation time! School starts for us Thursday so this week is back to schedule and working around the house!
Good for you! I'm planning a do nothing day next week after Aspen's wedding is done. All the wedding stuff has been consuming all my time.
oh the temple, that's sounds wonderful. I'll be there next week for Aspen's wedding, but I so miss my pre-pandemic weekly temple trips. I need to get back to doing that. It was so healing for my mind and soul.
I'm always telling DH that vacations are more work than vacation for me because it takes so much work as the mom to get the family ready for the vacation and then clean it all up afterwards. Enjoy your vacation time at home and even better when they all go off to school on Thursday.
I'm in the weeds with creative and administrative work so the taking care of me looks like making healthful smoothies to sip on while working. Today's was a yummy banana turmeric one.
It's SO awesome! Very low profile - it almost disappears it's so slim - it's made specifically to reduce for eye strain.
my daily walks eating breakfast on the porch watching my favorite YouTube channels enjoying yummy food chatting with my kids
Sunday afternoon is always rest/relax time. It's one of my favorite parts of the week. On Sunday I refuse to look or think about to-do lists, and after church just rest and sort of do things I want to. I rested on my porch, read my book, played with my kids, etc... It's always so rejuvenating. We will be starting Bible Study this week again on Sunday night and I cook for our crowd but I actually (most of the time) enjoy putting together a nice meal. Today I did do my nails. I always feel so much more put together (and that makes me more productive) when my nails look nice.
On Friday for my birthday, I read and cuddled with Piper all day. On Saturday, my family took me out to dinner and then we popped into the bookstore to see if we could find any bargains. On Sunday, I spent the day recovering from being out on Saturday.
