What quote do you live by?

I have 2-

1. "This too shall pass" | My grandfather always would tell me this when I was upset and now I use it to remind myself that everything changes...nothing ever stays the same

2. "Not all who wander are lost" | This one always reminds me that just because I set out on one path, doesn't mean I have to stay on that path....If I don't like the path I'm on....Make a change and find a new path.

I have a couple.

One is a scripture:

Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies.

A few from Eleanor Roosevelt:

You can often change your circumstances by changing your attitude.

No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.

A woman is like a tea bag - you can't tell how strong she is until you put her in hot water.

The key to juggling is to know that some of the balls you have in the air are made of plastic & some are made of glass.

And if you drop a plastic ball, it bounces, no harm done. If you drop a glass ball, it shatters, so you have to know which balls are glass and which are plastic and prioritize catching the glass ones.

A few quotes that I try to live by (but I'll be the first to admit that I don't always succeed!):

1. Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good.

2. The Golden Rule (Matthew 7:12): Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

3. My mother: There's always room for one more at the table.

You don’t always need a plan. Sometimes you just need to breathe, trust, let go, and see what happens.

Note to self:
You are not too old and it’s not too late.

I have a ‘quote’ area next to my computer in my nest (what I can my home office). If I see a quote that I like or speaks to me I write it out on post-it and stick it to the wall.

I love reading these and a few of them really speak to me right now.
Some that I try to remember ever day:
"This too shall pass"
"Every day may not be good but there is good in every day"
"You can change your life by changing your attitude"
"Start each day with a grateful heart"

A few that I say a lot are:
Every cloud has a silver lining.
Enjoy the little things in life.

:)

I love all of these. I think the one I say the most is "I have other talents" This is to remind myself that when I do something that isn't in my wheelhouse (like sports), I don't feel bad about it because I have other things I'm good at. Nobody is good at everything, so focus on the talents God gave you and use those! :agree

I have so many Bible verses I have memorized that I quote to myself all the time to get me through the day with a good attitude & to keep my life in perspective.

A non-biblical one
Fake it 'till you make it. (in the sense that sometimes we have to act like we know what we are doing until we actually figure it out - most of the time I don't know what I'm doing and I practice, learn and keep moving forward - obviously there is humbleness in this and asking for help - but I think a lot of times we can figure things out if we keep moving forward - I think a lot of times we are afraid to do something and don't do it because we don't know how to do it)

Obviously that was way too long of an explanation! But I wanted you to know I didn't mean to just be overconfident in everything. Haha!

recently i've been focusing on the word 'better', like 'that's better' and 'it doesn't have to be perfect, or even great, any improvement is better!'

The grass is always greener on the other side is what I always told my kids. I would tell them there will always be some that have more, some that have less, so you just focus on yourself and yours, don't worry about how you compare to what others do or don't have.

You do you and I'll do me is something I live by. I try to see the other side of things to understand but ultimately my life is for me to decide as is yours.

I forget the quote but its about making lemonade out of lemons. I really try to focus on the positive, on the lessons learned and opportunities that arise from negative things happening. I don't like to dwell on the negative, I will acknowledge it and move on. I like to see the positive whenever possible. My hubs is more the other way which is hard to tolerate sometimes but I have to respect that that is his choice.

Truth does not change according to our ability to stomach it and morality doesn't change by democratic consensus!

My mother always said "This too shall pass" My new one is "This is the new normal" My newest one is "Go big or go home" to my grandson all the time! For a laugh, when I ask my 96 yo father how he is doing, he says "I'm vertical aren't I?"

This is a great topic! It's so interesting to read the replies.
My first is one I have learned to live by the past 7-ish years of ups and downs and harsh "surprises" as well as sudden blessings.
'And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose." Romans 8:28
I have seen this play out over and over, allowing patience and trust to grow each time.
Another of three is Don't sit on the road- keep moving! ( don't pout- follow through)
So the other is Grow through what you go through.
