We are hard-core book lovers, you know, as in I like to open a new book and smell the pages. I always swore I wouldn't get an eReader but have lately been thinking my hubby might LOVE one. He reads in bed. a lot. when I'm asleep. And I figure with this he wouldn't have to wear a headlamp:giggle

So what kind of eReader do you have? What would you recommend?

TIA for the suggestions!!

I have a Kobo. I've had it a year and haven't had any problems. :)

Oh I thought the same: never a eReader! But I have too much books and too low places for them, so I use eBooks.
I haven't a Reader for it, but have to buy one in the next time...
But at this time I'm reading on my iPhone LOL
It's a lil' bit too small and have always to scroll - but christmas comes soon :D

Well, I ordered the Kindle Fire and it should arrive in 2 weeks. But, I am not a reader so I won't be much help for you. I just will be using it for forum reading, twitter, etc.....

I have the Nook Color and love it! It has a lit screen so it is perfect if I want to read in bed. I don't disturb anyone and I can read without it hurting my eyes!

I have a Kindle with the keyboard. I only use it to read. I was positive I didn't want one for the longest time ( I really love books ) BUT .....I want to marry it ♥

my husband has an iPad for work so I use that, though I'm thinking about getting a Kindle for myself... I love the iPad though.

I work at a school in the Tech Department and our students love the Nooks! Me, personally, I love my iPad and use it for so much.

I have the kindle app on my ipad. Love it!! I am a big reader and love that I can just instantly download and be reading a book that I come across.

i have the cheap version of kindle. i adore it. the kindle fire has definitely caught my eye, but i think i would rather get a full-out tablet... holding out for one with a better operating system on it so i can do more with it than DL google aps :giggle

so for now, i kick it with kindle. it's my favorite.

My husband has an iPad that I borrow every chance I can. I am addicted to reading books on it. Our library recently started lending through the Kindle app and I love it. I thought I would hate it, but have been pleasantly surprised. It is great for reading in bed.

I have a Kindle and seriously adore it! It has saved my life on this trip. I would have been so bored otherwise. (There was a /ton/ of travel involved). The Kindle isn't backlit though...

Wow, thanks guys!

Ok, sooo, is the Nook color actually in color? And is the Nook backlit and the Kindle not? I would love to get him an iPad - we're kind of an Apple family:) but it's a little out of the price range right now.

The Kindle Fire has caught my eye - we have wifi and hubby loves to read the news in bed too. But I wonder about holding out for one with a better operating system, like you said, Rebecca.

One last question, how do you get books with a Nook?

I still don't have one, those things are way too expensive round here...like more than ten times the american price!! and there are lots of things in the virtual stores not allowed for south america...so right now, I'm still with the books! =)

I have a Kindle (so does my dh and one of my boys). We all love it SO much. We are readers...lovers of books and all things paper, but the ease and convenience of it is so awesome! When I'm done with a book and want to continue, I just go and download it and start reading...even if it's after midnight! I'm never without something to read when I travel too. When I'm on break at work, I can pick up where I left off on my iPhone too...and when I get home, I sync back to my furthest page read. I do it when I'm waiting at appointments too, or wherever I happen to be.

I just bought an iPad too, so I can upload any of the books I have on my kindle right over to it, and I only took that on my last trip. My dh decided to just take his Kindle and his laptop up to Alaska, so I still have the iPad here, and I've been using it. I'll take it with me next week on my trip.

I'm going to order the Kindle Fire for my dh for his birthday though...I think he'll like having the option of having it backlit.

I chose the Kindle over the Nook, because everytime I saw one for sale, if one was lower priced, it was the one for the Kindle...not the Nook. Not that they don't have good deals too, but if one was lower priced, it was by Amazon not B&N.

We've had great customer service from Amazon too. Both my husbands and my son's Kindle's died on them, and they sent a brand new one out immediately.

ETA: just went and bought the Kindle Fire for my dh, and he'll get it for Christmas. He's going to be up in Alaska until Dec 22, so I'll just send him his new UGG slippers for his birthday instead of this! He's going to love it! I was really impressed with what I was reading at Amazon about it...great deal for the price!
